Nintendo masks?! And Nook Points?

I've heard that there are special Nintendo masks in City Folk, including Majora's Mask, Samus, Link, Midna, Paula, and Captain Falcon. But apparently they can't be bought with Bells. Instead, they need to be purchased with "Nook Points", whatever that is. Can someone who got the game early confirm this?

Edit: Apparently this info is from the official guide. No scans yet, though.

As epic as a Meta Knight mask would be it would be a bit weird on an Animal Crossing character. MK's head is round while an AC character's head is above their body.

Wow! I hope that's true. A Meta Knight Mask! He's one of my personal favorite Nintendo characters. I don't even know what Nook points are. I'm coming from AC for the Gamcube to the new one.
