Haven't had an issue yet but just wondering about what to do(besides deleting games) if I run out of data space on my switch. Do you just buy a micro sd card or do you need something else? Thanks
Yeah, the only options that are available are to either delete games/screenshots/videos that are on the Switch or to buy a microSD card. The microSD cards do come in different sizes, ranging from 64 GB to 512 GB for the officially licensed Nintendo microSD cards from briefly looking it up. Generally the best thing to do is to wait for them to come on sale then buy one unless you need it urgently. I bought a 128 GB microSD card a couple of years ago and haven't gotten close to filling it up yet, so you definitely don't need one of the larger microSD cards unless you have a ton of digital games.
My Switch has 3.3GB of free space left so I bought a 400GB MicroSD card (random brand) and it works great! I have more physical games than digital but I still wouldn't have been able to survive on the Switch's normal space. I have 388GB of the memory card left which is loads.
Unless you plan on buying a lot of digital games with large file sizes, you will probably only need a 64gb-128gb micro sd card. I have a ton of digital AAA games though, so even my 256gb micro sd card is almost full.
Thank you all for the help! When I looked on google what I found said to use a micro sd card and then like 2 sentences later said you can't save game data on a micro sd card. Like what? Good to know I can if I need to. I asked mainly because I just bought dreamlight valley and i didn't know how much space the base game would take(never mind future expansion packs lol)
I have five micro SD cards for my Switch right now and four of them are 128 GB which do hold a lot of smaller games and a 64 GB that I keep smaller games. I do want to get the Tom Nook Nintendo micro SD card because it has 512 GB to store my bigger games like Mortal Kombat 11 and the Bioshock collection on but I can’t afford the price especially since Nintendo keeps releasing games that I really want to play!
