No friend storage when visiting?

I've been playing with one of my friends, and while we enjoy fishing together and such, it seems like there's no possible way of accessing storage when visiting?.. when his shops close, this means I have no way of emptying my inventory of anything I wish to store/sell. Going back and forth between islands is a pretty inconvenient way of emptying inventory space! This also seems really bad for bell/bulk item trading. Did I miss a storage spot somewhere?

This does seem to be missing... I'm hoping I simply overlooked it as well but I fear I have not... this will hurt for buying and selling turnips too.

Right! I looked everywhere in the airport, and we tried having me use normal storage points in the house with no luck. Its going to make any mass trades SUCH a hassle.
