no permanent rocks to be found??

I seem to have a strange shortage of rocks on my island! My bf has several permanent rocks but I don't seem to have any. Is this something anyone else has seen? I'm worried there is a glitch with my island and I will have to restart it or something.

After you've eaten and filled up your food meter a bit you break rocks instead of getting resources out of them. They respawn daily.

They are all permanent, you are breaking them. You break one rock PER eaten fruit. Same applies to pulling whole trees. You must be at ZERO when you hit a rock with the shovel.
