Nookazon Experiences

So far, I have had a wonderful experience of Nookazon. Everyone on there is so friendly!
However, I always knew I was bound to have a bad experience at one point.
So I did a trade with someone on there. It was going pretty well. The usual drop off etc. They then asked if they could explore my island for inspiration. I felt uncomfortable but I really find it difficult to say no to people. Therefore I allowed them to look around.
Unfortunately they weren't very respectful. They pulled up flowers, ran over them, took fruit from trees and took some items I had on the ground. Which really sucked.

I would leave them a bad review but I kind of feel awful if I do that. Has anyone else had similar experiences? What did you do to make sure it didn't happen again?

You really shouldn't feel bad leaving a bad review. That's insanely disrespectful imo.
I haven't had one as bad, but I strongly dislike when people are trading with like 8 other people at the same time as me and random people are leaving and entering. It makes the whole transaction super confusing and take way longer than it should. If it gets really bad I just leave & message them that they're obviously busy right now and that I can just trade with someone else. Sometimes I block people too lmao.

There was this one time I was buying flowers and asked for their dodo code, then they reminded me that I had to send mine. I was in a hurry, so I opened up, got the flowers, and ended the session...then I got a 3-star review for being rude? Idk, I wasn't being rude imo. Most of my trades have been pleasant enough, except people not bringing the right color of something or just straight-up bringing the wrong item.

Thank you! It was just items my mum gave me to sell on Nookazon. So we were just going to sell them on there anyway. There was like 100,000 bells outside my mum's house that's gone now. But I'm sure I can make that up! Just sucks that it happened.

Leaving a bad review will help warn other people trading with that user so that they don't have the save experience, so if anything you'll be helping the community by doing that. It's common sense that you shouldn't mess with another players island, and even asking to look around isn't right since that's not what you agreed to when you accepted the trade. So I'd say go ahead, or you could just message them saying that that wasn't cool.

I’ve never used Nookazon because of the horror stories I read on here when NH came out.
I would have thought by now people like this would have gotten bored and moved on but I guess there’s always one!
I would agree with the others who commented and leave a bad review, yes it makes you feel bad but at least people will be warned in the future!

ive traded on nookazon quite a few times and for the most part had a positive experience with it.
the last time that i traded on there i was looking for the birthday hat. i found someone that was willing to trade so they opened their gate for me. while this was happening we were chatting through their messaging system and for some reason every time that you type three periods in a row *i do this all the time when im typing, its a bad habit of mine* their message system thinks that youre trying to send a link and will notify everyone in the chat that theres an ERROR and that youre trying to send a link *which i would never ever do*.
so i explained to the trader what happened, and that i wasnt trying to send a link. i went to the airport and tried to use their dodo code all excited that i was finally going to get that hat! but their dodo didnt work. i tried again thinking that i must have entered the code wrong. again it didnt work. i then contacted them to let them know that their code wasnt working only to find out that they had shut their gate and blocked me from trading with them!
thinking the entire situation was a misunderstanding i left a review on their profile asking why they had shut their gate and blocked me.
three days later i got a message from the staff asking what had happened. the trader had reported me for no reason!
i could have reported them too, but i didnt because even though what they did was crazy they did have a decent reputation and i didnt want to sully that over a simple misunderstanding.
as it turns out i was messaged by the staff again a few days ago *this is literally weeks later and i had totally forgotten about the incident*. the staff informed me that they had closed the case and that if some trader doesnt respond to not try and contact them again.
the good news is that about 5 minutes after that trader had closed their gate on me i had found another trader and i did get that hat.
anyways...a warning for you *see! i did the three period in a row thing here just now without even thinking about it!!!*
dont put three periods in a row when youre typing on nookazon. mine got me reported, booted out of a trade and blocked For No Reason.

Woah, seriously? Good to know. I always tend to do the three period thing too. That's crazy. Glad you got the hat though!

Another experience that I remembered was when I was giving away some clothes for free. This one girl, whom I'm assuming was pretty young, responded, and she messaged me and asked if she could bring a friend. Eh, I needed rid of the clothes, so I agreed. They came over, and after they got the clothes, they DEMANDED a tour, despite the fact that I was in the middle of terraforming. After trying to get them to leave, I caved, though I told them that they could look around if they didn't touch anything. Eventually, I had to go for a doctor's appointment and told them to leave, but, of course, they wouldn't, and I had to close the session. Overall wasn't the most unpleasant and they didn't ruin my island or anything, but I don't deal with kids very well and if you're touring someone's island, especially unattended, you should always respect what they tell you.

ive had to create a very narrow area at the airport that i now block with fencing to keep people from roaming around when im trading so i feel your pain on that one. at least the kids didnt destroy anything or steal while they were visiting your island. ive had a few traders say they wanted to look around and then they would go somewhere and just stand there for eternity doing nothing but taking up my trading time LOL

and thank you for telling me that im not the only one that uses those three periods in a row thing LOL! ive even reported it to nookazon staff so they could fix the problem, but they never did! i did that far before i was blocked by that trader too.

A possible solution if you are uncomfortable with visitors exploring your island after a trade is just politely let them know you need to close up shop soon (for whatever excuse you‘d like to give) and then offer them your dream address instead if they would like to explore another time. Dream visits are just like normal visits, except dream visitors cannot permanently effect your island, which only someone up to no good would really want to do.

While I generally believe leaving negative reviews on Nookazon is a good thing for the greater good, note that it is possible for someone to leave a negative review in response. I once had an experience where the other party was clearly in the wrong, and I left a fair but less than 5-star review. The person left a nasty comment and rating on my otherwise stellar rating. It was annoying, but just know that it happens.

I find that 90% of the people I have dealt with on Nookazon to be pleasant, decent folk, though.

having a dream address is a nice solution to the problem, but for folks like me it isnt viable. i wouldnt want to waste someones dream time with my not finished looks like a hurricane hit it island LOL

Very similar thing happened to me, actually. I was trading a pink drink machine for a red drink machine. Now, the trader said in their bio that if they don’t respond within an hour, to let the trade go because this person doesn’t want to leave their trades/offers waiting. I thought, “okay, I respect that.”

Well, they end up responding in less than an hour and we’re chatting about the trade. I told them to let me go ahead and get the order ready and open my gates (this is a Nook shop item, so I had to order it and then TT; I even got them a second pink drink machine as a gift and wrapped it up to be cute.) Less than 10-15 minutes pass for me to do this and out of NOWHERE, this person closes the trade, blocks me, and now I have two pink drink machines I ordered from my Nook shop for no reason (I have no use for that color variant .) I was baffled. Luckily, like you, I found another trader quickly and everything was fine, but I had to offer something else of course. It still sucked majorly though.

Overall, I’d never experienced that on Nookazon until now. Everyone has been friendly and left me 5-star reviews. It’s just weird people expect you to have everything you offer ready and on your character. You’d think people don’t order items ahead in case the trade never gets accepted, cus then they’re out Nook miles or bells. At least I thought that was common sense… lol.

Regarding the OP concerns, I would personally report them. They flat out stole items, flowers, and fruit from your island, which was NOT a part of the deal/trade. That’s a clear violation and should be notified to Nookazon. I definitely would’ve thrown a fit.

I was coming back to NH and was trading some Sanrio items for the junihitoe kimono, but at the time, I didn't TT, so I told the trader that I'd have to do it the next day, as I personally don't care for the Sanrio items all that much and had to order them. I get the items, message the person, and they just flat out stop responding. I don't think they ever blocked me, but it was very frustrating. I never got the kimono, but Sanrio items ALWAYS do well on Nookazon so I did get other stuff for them.

Dang, that sucks . At least you didn’t get blocked, cus that woulda been absolutely ridiculous. That’s why my #1 is to go on Belltree if I have like 30-60 tbt, cus I can get a lot of what I want from the regular shop sellers. I only do Nookazon now if I need 1 item (and I need it quickly) or the item is event only and no one on belltree is selling it regularly. I prefer the community on here anyway—it’s much easier to communicate with users and set up times for trading/selling.

That's really stupid. Three periods in a row is a real thing. It's called ellipses.

As for OP, don't feel bad if you have to leave a negative review. I wouldn't go to someone's home and dig up flowers, trample over them, and steal stuff. I always love the 'it's just a game' excuse. That's like destroying or editing someone's drawing without their permission because 'It's just a drawing' Neither of them hold any merit. It's easy to go around and ruin someone's work when they're not the ones that put the effort and time it. Reminds me of people who would go around and destroy someone's sandcastle (that they're still building) on a beach. That stuff always annoyed me when I was a kid and some pea-sized brained bully would do that.

Ohmygosh, PLEASE leave them a bad review! Like Fye said, you'd be helping the community. Especially since they weren't just rude, they straight up stole money from you. That's beyond simple oblivious rudeness and means they knew exactly what they were doing. You don't even need to be like "THEY STOLE FROM ME MAY THEY BE CURSED FOREVER" or something like that. Just lay out the facts- "After the trade, they asked to look around, and now I see some items, including bells, are missing, flowers are trampled and taken, and fruit has been picked from trees. No one else could've done it." You could even give them 2 stars, instead of 1, and be like "but everything was fine before that" or something if you're feeling generous.
...I spend so much time on AITA on Reddit I nearly added a "NTA"/"YWNBTA"

Anyway, I haven't used Nookazon myself, but I always find it interesting to read these kinds of stories. If I ever decide to use it, I want to know what can go wrong!

I have never enjoyed being on Nookazon I got off as soon as people on their where being nasty.

I’m sorry you had a bad experience but I would definitely leave a bad review to help other nice people that this person was disrespectful to your island after you had already traded.
