Hello all!

I have googled for hours and everything I try has had no luck.

I have been trying for countless hours to get above a 2-star island. It's been a solid two weeks of constant improvements.

Things I have/have done:
-2 inclines
-1 bridge
-at least 50 items placed down (diy, store bought, etc)
-flowers around every curve possible (no count, close to 100 if not over)
-bushes all over, various flower bushes, holly, olive)
-I have every type of tree except orange (still looking) and a decent amount of them.
-9 residents

I am at a total loss. Husband isn't sure either, he said mine looks way better than his did so he doesn't understand. I just want to get the concert so I can further customize but this is getting ridiculous.

Edit:

Counted up my island because what is life.
I have 51 bushes. 150 flowers. 175 fences/furniture, 29 trees, 11 starts....

Hmm what is Isabelle saying when you ask for evaluations? It could be that you have to much of something? Or you could be lacking in development points (as opposed to scenery points; from things like trees and bushes) I found this website that may help? Idk if you've seen it before or not but it's here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/animal-crossing-new-horizons-five-star-island/?amp
She keeps saying flowers and I keep blowing up my island with flowers and it's still not going up at all.

Put more items down, put up some fencing, another bridge would be a good idea. You get a development bonus for having full complement of villagers.

One idea is work on collecting the bug and fish models from Flick and CJ and placing them for a temporary boost. I've been hovering at 4 stars forever and I ended up just putting a bunch down long enough to get 5 stars and the golden watering can DIY

She's saying you don't have enough flowers? According to that website for 3 stars you need eight villagers or more, 160 to 399 points in development and 270 to 349 points in scenery. You could try counting up your points? Or maybe diversifying them if you find you have a lot more of one than another?

I've found that it can take an absolutely obscene amount of flowers before Isabelle stops insisting that you need more.

I literally went through my whole island counting up different catergories! I have 51 bushes, 150 flowers, 29 trees, 175 pieces of furniture/fences, 11 starts... etc.

My Island is also stuck at 2 stars. However you have done more than I have with your island. I also don't remember it being this difficult before. I think some things about it has changed honestly. The Able Sisters Shop use to give a boost in stars but it didn't change mine at all. I also saw a site saying that it raises your stars.
For your island, I would make sure you don't have too many bushes. Bushes are sometimes seen as an obstacle to villagers. I also wonder if stuff donated to the museum plays a role or not. Nook mile items you purchase from the terminal use to give more of a boost than regular items. Idk if it has changed though. I would try another bridge for your island and placing fencing down. Fencing also use to be a big thing for Isabelle.

i did some googling, and apparently you need to have at least 200 flowers on your island in order to reach 3 stars. isabelle’s told you that you need more flowers, so i’d recommend planting 50 more to reach 200, and see if that gets you your 3rd star. make sure to have as much variety as possible as well, and space the flowers out across your island. good luck! :)

I thought maybe museum but I have so many of the museum stuff just about finished!

i think that you need to put down more objects instead of flowers. what i did to get my 3 star rating was just take whatever objects that i had, regardless of what they were, and placed them around my island just for the 3 star rating. Then i would make or find whichever item that i actually wanted, and started to change the items that i had put down with the items that i really wanted.
and yes, fences do help, i also used those and tore them down after i had enough wanted items :)

What types of flowers have you on your island? The only thing that springs to my mind is that you may need to plant different varieties of flowers rather than hundreds of the same one ...

You are probably being docked a star. 3 Stars is pretty much freely given once you have 8+ villagers, 1 incline, 1 bridge. Make sure there isn't junk lying around. Remember, weeds don't dock you stars, they just prevent you from getting bonus points.

Did you cut down trees? 29 seems really low.

If you want to drive yourself crazy…I got my 5 stars while trying for a rock garden. You essentially have to have an item/plant in every other spot anyways, so it killed 2 birds with one stone. You can just clean up later, which will most likely bring you down to 4 stars.

Yeah that seems like a small amount of trees. I have way more than that myself. And with Christmas time coming, you'll want some more cedar trees so they get the lights and all that. I would definitely say you should have at least 20 cedar trees and 20 hardwood trees, and if you want to diversify your fruit trees, at least 5 each of your non-native and then another 20 of your native. I also have like 15 coconut trees. So all together... yeah, you should probably have close to 80 trees. xD

Maybe try buying some items from the nook mileage program? I have the tea cup ride and park bench and more. Maybe some pathways?
