This might be slightly off topic; however, considering that Animal Crossing is the only game currently supporting the Wii Speak peripheral, I think it might merit some general discussion.

For those who have sprung to buy it, what do you think of this latest Nintendo innovation?

For my own part, I think of this one as being only slightly better than the GameCube Modem -- which isn't saying much. The GameCube Modem only ever supported a single game, but at least it worked as advertised.

Wii Speak, on the other hand, is an echoy, feedbacky mess. What words I can hear sound as if they are coming from the bottom of a well. The words I can't hear repeat and reverberate three or four times before they fade away.

I am actually shocked that this product made it into production.

I suppose it is possible, that I simply have the thing set up incorrectly. I followed the instructions to the letter, though.

Anyone else? Good experiences? Bad? What do you think?

Well i dont have wiispeak, but i was playing with someone who does have it and I've heard him pretty clearly.
Have you try changing the volume and such on it?

Lol I can usually hear people just fine, im not sure how I sound, ask one of my buddies.

I like it, except when someone else in my house is calling my name, then its sort of awkward.

On another note, theres not headphone slot on it, so the chances of a 3rd party headset are slim to none.

Does the wiispeak hook up on the usb's in back?
Maybe i should try a headset of mines in the usb.
I hooked up my keyboard in that usb, and typing words was fast and easy for me.

I have tried adjusting everything I can think of to adjust. I will keep messing around with the controls. Maybe it is just me. . .

Wow I actually was very surprised in how much I liked it. It's tiny! Which makes it super cute and huggable. And also, I can hear people very well, and they can hear me perfectly. And I don't even have to raise my voice. Which is a miracle because people always say they have trouble hearing me even in person. Haha.

What is the volume set to on your "Mic Chat Settings" screen? Mine is set very low. Should I turn it up higher? I have already tried turning my television speakers down very low, and that doesn't seem to change a thing.

Yes it is.

Yes, it is.

Wii Speak plugs into the back USB jack.

...Actually, now that I think of it, I have my Guitar Hero microphone plugged into the other USB slot. If both microphones were being activated, that really would cause some problems. I wonder if the answer is as simple as that?

I'm going to unplug the other microphone and try it again. . . .

[edit] I can only hear myself when Wii Speak feeds back.

Can you use a keyboard and connect it via usb? I would love to do that, it would make things much easier while online.

I've played the game with at least 4 different people who use WiiSpeak and this never happened...

Haha bones your awesome. Huggable... That made me laugh. xD

Some of the people who came over had WiiSpeak sounded just fine. Except for one person who didn't speak very CLEARLY so it was hard to understand him once in a while.... *Not mentioning any names*...
