I started putting down paths, I had a path to about 3 of my villagers houses, got bored, left it for a week, and ending up picking it all up. ack it was so much work and it was so boring and the thought of having to do it to my whole town gave me trouble breathing.

At first it was a little tedious, but once I understood the order in which tiles are laid, it went really fast. And once you've done it once, if you want to switch paths, you just need to save the new tiles over the old tiles so that the tile types match. So for example, make sure the new top left corner tile is saved in the spot where the old top left corner tile was.
Making a town look nice takes a LOT of time IMO. It's not just paths. It's PWP placement, landscaping, flower breeding, etc. My town is getting close, but it's been a work in progress since June. That's a lot of time for making a town look pretty how you want it.
It's tedious and time consuming but once you put a lot of effort in it and you like the way it turns out it's worth it. I feel the same way when I spend so much time planting trees and bushes then when they're fully grown I hate the way it looks. I'm too lazy to chop them down so I keep them up until I find a PwP that fits in its place.
I'm too lazy to have paths and I find it boring sticking to them... I started it and got annoyed and destroyed them all. It's hard enough to keep my real life in order at times, let alone Animal Crossing! I just want to run around and be free even if I do lose grass. The way I see it is my village is like a forest and most forests aren't full of grass, they're usually patchy as hell.
It took me a few days to finish my paths and I was so pissed because it took forever. I don't know what I was expecting even though I had never used paths before I knew I could only use one tile at a time.
After all the labor I was really happy and now all my grass has grown back, it was a good choice!
