And don't say nuzlocke. XD I already beat XY on a nuzlocke and only lost one team member on a fluke.
And I tried a wonderlocke variant and kinda got OP before the first gym (hawlucha and deino before I reached the first gym) so that kinda ruined the fun. ^^;

So, are there any other things that can be done to spice a run through of XY up?

?ber-hard nuzlocke:
no using pok?yen for any reason that isn't absolutely necessary, using each healing place (to include non-centers) only once as you go through. minimal pc usage is absolutely necessary. all other "normal" nuzlocke rules apply.
this basically means that you survive off of pickup and items you find~~
i've done this before, so don't say it's impossible

A run-through using only a Lv. 100 Metapod. Otherwise, get into competitive battling and breed some Pokemon to battle people online.

the "youngster joey" challenge is to where you only use a team of ratatas

I remember for my second play through I used the rules of no megas, Exp Share turned off at all times and absolutely no grinding unless you can't beat a gym leader or something.

It made the game way more challenging and I enjoyed playing it that way. It's not super interesting but it's a way to play to up the challenge.

I think I also only used Kalos only Pokemon but that's up to you. :)

You can give speed running the game. Challenge yourself to see how fast you can clear a pok?mon game. Maybe you can clear it in less than a week. Or better, less than a day. You'll be more amazed if you can achieve time in less than 8 hours.

Have you heard of wonderlocke?

I will quote unquote from azurilland.com

Wonderlocke Challenge
Wonderlocke Challenge
The Wonderlocke challenge is a variant of the well-known Nuzlocke challenge geared towards making the challenge even more difficult by forcing you to only obtain Pok?mon through the act of Wonder Trading in Pok?mon X and Y. This means any Pok?mon you encounter in the wild won't actually be used for any duration of the game.

The rules for the Wonderlocke challenge were conceived back in October 2013, not long after Pok?mon X and Y were first released.

Rules of the Wonderlocke Challenge
While many Nuzlocke variants expand upon the typical rules, none have rules that really don't differ from the original set. However, that doesn't mean the Wonderlocke challenge is as simple as the usual Nuzlocke challenge. There are a few subtle changes from a regular Nuzlocke, but you must understand and follow them in order to truly undertake the Wonderlocke challenge.

Rule #1: Fainted Pok?mon are considered dead.
Part of what makes Nuzlocke challenges so difficult is that fainted Pok?mon must forever be removed from your party, since they are considered "dead" for storyline purposes.
They must be either released permanently or, alternatively, may be placed in a dedicated box in the PC.

Rule #2: You can only catch the first Pok?mon in any new area.
Whenever you enter a new route or area, you're only able to catch or receive the first Pok?mon you encounter there.
You aren't forced to catch that Pok?mon; it's just your only chance to.
Dupes Clause: Typically, you are allowed to ignore any encounters of Pok?mon that you've already caught. Since you can only use Pok?mon obtained through Wonder Trade, this clause is changed slightly in a Wonderlocke. If you obtain a Pok?mon through a Wonder Trade you've already received, you may Wonder Trade that Pok?mon again for a new one.
You may also impose a limit of how many times Dupes Clause triggers to avoid exploiting it in order to encounter rare Pok?mon.

Rule #3: All Pok?mon captured in the wild or obtained in-game must be Wonder Traded immediately.
This is the whole idea of a Wonderlocke; by Wonder Trading all Pok?mon you've obtained you essentially play the whole game without any possibility of knowing what Pok?mon you'll be using.
There is one exception to this rule, as your starter Pok?mon cannot be Wonder Traded until you capture a second Pok?mon. However, as soon as you do, you must Wonder Trade them both.
Soul Bond Clause: An original component of the initial Wonderlocke ruleset, if you are given a Pok?mon in-game, you do not have to Wonder Trade it and are able to keep and nickname it.
Level Clause: A Wonderlocke can be made much easier by using this clause. Essentially you can choose to continue Wonder Trading until you get a Pok?mon whose level is just about the same as your average Pok?mon. This means that you won't be overleveled early in the game or underleveled late in the game
You may also impose a limit of how large the level gap of your Pok?mon can be with Wonder Trades. Typically a range of ten levels is reasonable for Wonder Traded Pok?mon.

Maybe you can try this one? Personally, I haven't done the nuzlocke challenged yet since I'm an avid collector event Pokemons but I guess I'll be doing this once I get another copy of my Pokemon X and possibly carry it over to other Pokemon franchises once I get to enjoy the challenge itself.

Using a specific type is pretty fun in XY imo cuz of the pkmn variety. You could add a nuzlocke challenge to it too.

Only use a specific set of Pokemon:

Blaziken, Wigglytuff, Tyrunt, Goodra, Noibat, Ampharos. Vaporeon on certain occasions.

I call it the Harmony Run. Why? Check the link in my signature.

Spam wondertrade all day everyday or something? Idek, get a team for the battle maison thing thing in kiloude..

I would say try using only pokemon found on the 2nd rt., only trading is by trainers in game, can't use anything from online. Starter is optional and you can switch pokemon in and out but only 2nd rt pokemon.
