Old Furniture Sets?

I just started playing this game about a month ago. I played New Leaf pretty religiously.
I wasn’t aware that NH had left out so much from the old game? Gyroids will be coming back - but specifically, why are so many classic furniture sets gone in favor of DIY?
My specific favorite was the rococo series that you could customize… and another example, on Halloween, you would not only have the spooky series, but if you have Jack lollipops he would give you exclusive furniture from the creepy series.
Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of the variety of furniture sets missing from NH?

There are a lot of items that were in ACNL but not in ACNH (I don't consider them "left out" since this is a completely new game)

BUT. Do you know the update coming out Friday? They're adding a lot BACK- including the confirmed Rococo set. I believe those are coming back even if you don't buy the DLC, and no matter what, there will be a TON of new furniture items to enjoy!

Welcome to one of the most discussed topics of this part of the forum. You’ll get various responses about this topic especially with the update coming on Friday, it looks like a lot of furniture from the past is to return. As you can notice the developers have gone a different direction with the New horizon so yea that what’s happen. It’s fine to disagree with the direction they have gone but, looking Into it at this point there is not less Furniture in the game. It feels like less furniture because multiple sets that are favorites have been not included. We will see what the update brings on Friday.

So far it looks like the Rococo, Ranch and Sleek furniture sets will be coming back with the ver 2.0 update. I also vaguely remember watching a YouTube video that saw what seemed to look like the Astro chair in the catalogue in the direct last time. Some people are also speculating a new and improved Patchwork set. Like some have said not all furniture sets in NL have been ported over to NH but NH also has a lot of new ones in their place and even more with the upcoming update.

I had tried to check which furniture was coming with the update and couldn’t easily find it. But this is very exciting. Will help with my spooky town!!

i agree. I’m glad they’re coming back but, maybe I’m holding too much onto the past times must change.
im just excited to see the set in better quality and customizations.

Largely because we don’t know for sure what’s coming back and what isn’t. A few are definitely confirmed - the froggy chair was PROMINENT in two shots in the trailer, as was the ranch set, and spotting some of the others wasn’t hard once you started looking, but will the regal set be returning? Or alpine? No clue.

My suspicion is a lot of the launch items were geared more towards outdoor decorating to show off the central new mechanic or something. (In fairness, it is a doozy.) Given dataminers found evidence of pretty much everything announced for the 2.0 update well before it was announced, they probably planned a slower post-launch roll-out for a lot of those features, probably including furniture… but it took a while to implement for whatever reason. (COVID? A wrinkle in implementation with how customizable furniture and uncustomizable variants appear to be classed as different items in the Photopia catalogue? Nintendo telling them to get started on Splatoon 3 already? All of the above? *Shrugs* I do not work for Nintendo.)

Somebody posted a screenshot of one of the villager's vacation homes in happy home paradise DLC, and they had the creepy skeleton from new leaf (the one that's a pile of bones and a skull) so I think that series might be returning too in some capacity

I specifically remember the gorgeous series being a popular one in previous games, as well as the sweets set, and Gracie grace furniture. It’s a little disappointing to not see them implemented in New Horizons. I am intrigued to see what new furniture and recipes the big update will bring.
