I have been watching the Villagers trading plaza for two straight days since Bianca moved out on october 2nd and I'm exhausted at the number of refresh it takes and the overall attention it demands. I've been obsessively stalking Giveaway and Cycling threads for interesting characters (well I'm open but I'd prefer the characters on the bottom row of my signature). Nothing yet.

Has anyone done that exercise lately ? Damn it's exhausting. And here's another thought. Why are Julian, Merengue, Marshal, Lucky, Ankha and whatnot fetching such high prices ? There is literally half a dozen of these five characters going for auction/adoption everyday. I don't get it. In fact I just think there isn't enough village in the world for all these same characters to get adopted... This doesn't follow any demand/supply logic. It's insane.

Besides O'Hare, a lot of the villagers you're looking for aren't that sought out for.

Those five you mentioned are the most sought out for, and people spend A TON of money to get them. Why? Because they're the...cutest I guess? It's pretty weird, and I personally try to stay away from cookie-cutter villagers.

There's plenty of other places to find villagers, like tumblr or some other site like reddit.

Thank you for the links. I found someone who has O'Hare moving on october 6th. I contacted the girl and I'm hoping for an answer.

Just do the campsite trick, you'll probably get a hold of a villager you like quicker that way.

It's extremely exhausting. I usually have nine villagers in my town because I'm pretty unlucky with the campsite, so I usually browse around. When I have eight villagers in my town I lurk over each cycling and giveaway thread like a hawk.

The fact that the number of cycling and giveaway threads are growing, I've seen more of the "popular" villagers getting given away for free so I don't understand why people are still paying 60 million for some of their dreamies. Maybe I'm just saying that because I don't have anywhere near 60 million bells. Many of your dreamies on your bottom row I've seen as giveaways that were unfortunately voided.

Because there's people out there who are willing to pay it. There's also such thing as what's called a "fishing expedition". Basically, that means people will ask an excessively high price sometimes just to see if someone will buy (aka "bite"). If no one does, they have plenty of leeway to lower the price and still make a large amount of bells.

The problem with some of these super popular villagers is you now have people who intentionally get them in their town (usually by campsite reset method) just to try to sell them.

I did the campsite reset trick for almost 3 hours straight recently. So frustrating... Was a miracle a dreamie popped up in the trading plaza and I actually got them. :3

Try your luck with the cycling threads, since they're quite popular here. You're bound to find someone. :) Check other forums and such to increase your chances of finding someone. The campsite trick works too, but it can get pretty aggravating after a while, regardless of what you're doing. XD I personally don't get why certain villagers are popular. They just are. *shrugs* Honestly, if the person wants to spend "x amount" of millions of their dreamie, that's their choice.

It's not like they have a gun to their head, forcing them to pay that amount. I personally wouldn't spend millions on a dreamie and I normally don't auction off villagers either (don't really need the bells), but I made the exception when I ran the Julian auction to try and help my boyfriend out. (though it ended up not going through in the end... >.<)

The downside of having dreamies that aren't as popular, they tend to get cycled out in cycle threads, but in the end, ya don't need to rush to try to find your dreamies. Think it takes some of the fun out of it. Looking is fine, but getting obsessed.... not so much. It'll really wear you down. :( Wish you best of luck finding your dreamies. :D

Whether some characters are popular or not, well it's not really what I was questioning. It's how they are fetching such high prices when the supply for these 5-6 characters is enough to satisfy the demand. I think you get 4-5 Julians adopted every day, I'm not kidding... And like LaurinaNM says, they sometimes go for free !

If I had one of those moving in my town (I don't know how because I wouldn't actively try to do it) I think I'd just void them when they moved out just because I wouldn't like someone to get them to try and sell them.

If you have someone moving who you know is really popular, you can look at people's sigs and find someone who wants them. Offer them up privately, that way you can be a huge help to that person and know your villager is going to someone who really wants them. I've done that with a few villagers I had who can be high-priced because I don't want to see them sold on either.

That's what I have done and what others have done for me. I like this a whole lot more than constantly refreshing pages and waiting for something that may never come. And personally, dream villagers aren't SUPER important to me. If I can't get a dream villager when I have an open space in town, I'll search for giveaway threads and take who is overlooked.

It's all preference and how much energy and patience you have. Both of which I have very little :p

Yeah its crazy. Flurry and Marshal are my ultimate dreamies but I think it would be impossible for me to get them unless I dupe like crazy and have 10000000 bells.. or I get extremely lucky, which is never the case. lol

I'd watch for villagers on Reddit (the free villagers), but it seems like the ones I do want are already claimed when I'm not checking. =_=
I'd end up getting a random move-in or a camper instead.

Eee, I know what you mean D: I've been doing the same! Check out villagertrade.tumblr.com !

It's easy to find villagers that aren't that popular. If you want, I can watch out for any of yours. (Is the bottom part of your sig your dream villagers?)

I've been lurking a cycling thread with a first-come policy for days :/ Its for a fairly popular villager I really genuinely want, and I feel like it's the only chance I have for her. It also sucks because I'm afraid she'll get snapped up within minutes of her being posted as moving, so I refresh every few minutes. I feel like a stalker...

It's also annoying that cycling threads with reservations get filled up insanely fast.

Yes, thank you ! But I finally got Friga from hazumi :) So I'm at 10 villagers right now. Unfortunately. I guess I'll be on the lookout once one of my villager leaves.
