It's expected, right? The studio (or whatever it's called) is the same that made the new Mario Party - that doesn't have online mode - and the game is focused on amiibos. I wasn't expecting online modes, so i'm not surprised.
But I just think they could at least include ONE online mode, like the Quiz or something like that...

On top of this, is there even an option for CPU players? I haven't seen or heard mention of one.
Though I believe the island mode is intended to be single player.

I think this is officially the nail in the coffin for this game for me. I wasn't really interested in a Mario Party-ish game in the first place, but I might've bought it to play with people online. But now that that's out... I'd have to hear about some really compelling reason to buy it. And it has to be REALLY good even, since my Wii U is Japanese and I no longer live in Japan. Gonna make all future Wii U games more expensive for me since I have to import them.

Alright! It's decided! Will not buy this. I will not allow myself to waste money on amiibo again. And this time the game itself is a waste of money as well!

JK Still buying this game but I am very disappointed
We still have Mario Tennis! It is actually sad that Mario Tennis will turn out better than this. It had so much potential!
It did. I was actually excited for this because I thought it was gonna have online. But since Mario Tennis has online now I'm excited for that!
Sort of, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash is getting online but they don't see the online potential in this game i guess..
Nintendo, the company that still needs to learn how to make games work online

Actually it's ND cube, a company who seem vaguely aware of the internet existing as a means to advertise, but I don't think they have ever made a game with online despite specialising in games that woud benefit from online. They also don't seem aware of using the internet for feedback.
Really Nintendo should deligate some programmers to teach them how to sort this.

Wow, I wasn't going to get this game because it didn't seem that exciting, then I saw this thread and I thought that if there is online play, I might consider it. Since there's not, I'm back to my original decision. I really wish they would make games like these with online play already, they'd be so much more fun. I enjoy party games (I dunno about this one though) but no one I know will play them with me in real life so it's a struggle :/

I thought it would be cool if I was able to play this online... But now it's deconfirmed, so I probably won't get this.
Even though Mario Tennis Ultra Smash will end up having online, I probably won't get that, either. I was useless at online multiplayer on Mario Tennis Open...
