…will I ever get my hands on an Ironwood Kitchenette!

I just restarted my Island in the last month, and still no sign of a cutting board. That darn thing is as elusive as it was Spring 2020, and I’m honestly starting to doubt it’s existence at this point.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind waiting for a thing or two—I’ve basically waited two whole years to get back into the game—but it’s frustrating to pay for a DIY that’s then locked behind another, harder to obtain DIY.

Was that the intention though? Is this recipe truly supposed to be for “our wildest dreams”, just something to aspire to in the long run, or am I sitting sinkless in an empty kitchen for no reason?

This is the question that nags at me as I try to make outdoor tables work inside and scoot chairs into the closest-looking, least awkward position around them.

I only just got the cutting board DIY today.

Now I'm just waiting for the Ironwood Dresser DIY.

I was trying to make a room with the ironwood set (aka my favorite furniture set in the game), and it took me a while to get the cutting board DIY too. Eventually I got tired of waiting and bought it from someone else. In fact, it was my very first trade when I made my Nookazon account back then.

I've never restarted my island, but I remember waiting ages to get the cutting board DIY so I could make the Ironwood Kitchenette too! There were so few furniture options before HHP, so I really wanted to use it. Best of luck!

I played for two months when it first came out and then got caught up in other things. I’ve tried restarting unsuccessfully a time or two since, but I’m only just now really playing again—it’s cool how much has changed!

Speaking of HHP: I’m not planning on playing it yet (like not making vacation homes), but does purchasing the DLC unlock more furniture on my own Island too? Because if that’s the case, I should probably buy it sooner rather than later just to have the options

It didn’t take long on my first island to get the cutting board DIY. Took awhile on my second island. I can’t remember if my alt characters have it. One of the advantages to the DLC is after you make 3 or 4 houses a DIY bottle will appear each day on the resort island. Niko also teaches you some DIY’s when you get to a certain point.

The Cutting Board DIY was one of the last ones I ended up finding - took me ages! I eventually found one in someone else's giveaway. Afterwards, I got a duplicate on my own island, go figure!

The DIY which frustated me (that it took so long to get) was the: cabin wallpaper.

I got both recipes like, really early on in game back in 2020. I just made myself a nice kitchen, traded for the few recipes I was missing (think the table? Cheap ones anyway) found out later that apparently everyone was going crazy trying to build that ironwood kitchenette xD I’d made it already, as well as a cute little cutting board to put on display

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think HHP unlocks many new items, and most of the new items are unlocked with the 2.0 update! I think the only thing that would make it easier to get new furniture for your island is that HHP has another store where you can buy items.

HHP unlocks a few items, mostly Niko's diys, and the ability to do things like use partitions and change your villagers homes I think.

I used to keep getting cutting boards all the time early in the game since my first Normal villager Sydney would always be crafting them
the cutting board has some weird RNG I never understood how this is one of the DIYs everyone wants but most people have trouble finding it...

Thanks, that’s a valid point and I’m definitely considering it then. There’s just so much to do early on that I didn’t want to get overwhelmed with extra off-Island tasks!
