i personally haven't bought it yet because i have my doubts about the game, but im considering it. from how i see it, the only point of it is to design rooms for villagers if im not mistaken. im sure theres more to it, but to those of you who played or are currently playing it - is it just as good as acnl & how would you rate it out of 10? and do you think you'd be addicted to it for years or just temporarily?

yeah I had my doubts with this game too. At first I thought it was DLC for New Leaf but nah.
I wanted to wait till it was half off during sales but no lol, I am an impulse buyer..

I have been only playing it for maybe 2-3 hours in total since I got it two days ago. I like playing it at a slow pace than rushing it because I suck at decorating stuff but the new stuff the villagers say are cute and I hated decorating in ACNL but it is easier on here. Honestly, I do think it is not as good as acnl because acnl has more interactions and challenges you know? It differs from many people. Also it is a temp addiction, when I got ACNL I would not stop playing it and could not wait till the next day where this game it is totally different but interesting. Ugh sorry I am so bad at reviewing stuff lol.

In my opinion, it's an okay game. It can be fun but boring at the same time because items are just handed to you with each animal and project you decide to take on. :( I don't find it to be as good as AC:NL due to the fact that barely anything is rewarding. There's nothing to work for because like I said before, everything is just handed to you with each new project, and not only that but the animals reactions seem to be the same each time no matter how much or little effort you put into your work.

But then yet again, this is just what I think about it.

I don't have the new system I have two old stems so I can't ever get. I am not sure if i would like it though as you have to design OTHER villagers homes to their liking. I have read that after you complete their home you can revisit and do it to how you want to but I want a whole new game where I can design a whole town.

in my opinion, its like how u start a new game. u get all excited at the new things and play it for a few hours or so. and then most people get bored within a few hours/days. id like it if it was an updated version of acnl, with the whole design ur own town, moving in villagers, filling ur encyclopedia, and decorating/placing where their houses are.

i like the game but not that much. one reason being that there no something like a scoring system. even if you designed a bad room, the villagers will still like it. provided that you don't remove the furniture they want. only good thing is that we can unlock items.

Im not the home decorating type of guy. I didn't get the game for the same reasons lots of other people do: it would get stale quickly. I don't think hhd was a needed game just because it made a fun part of acnl to ridiculously easy to the point where it is not fun anymore. Just like Snoozit^ said, no scoring system. Ususally scoring is a great way to progress through a game. it just feels that hhd has no sense of progression and thats why it just dosent appel to me. Granted it would be great if there was more sense of progrssion. I just dont feel like its worth it, even with the whole amibo card thing

As with the Pokemon series, I have no interest whatsoever in most of the side games (except the upcoming Pokken Tournament) and won't be buying them. Happy Home Designer looks really boring and simple and lacks a lot of what I like about the series. The Amiibo Party game doesn't catch my interest either. The only two Animal Crossing amiibo I'm even remotely interested in are Blathers and Celeste anyway, and even then, I don't think I'll actually bother to buy them.

I initially didn't even know about it until like two days before it came out, and I decided on a whim that I was gonna preorder it. I do like it a lot, but I don't think it quite compares to NL or really any of the regular AC games.
HHD is adorable, the villagers we all know and love get a little bit more of their own individual personality, but the biggest flaw with this game is that it's not...really...a full game. Or it doesn't feel like it. In my opinion, this should've either been DLC for New Leaf, or it should've been a part of a new Animal Crossing. And I honestly hope it will be a part of the new one, because designing rooms is massively improved and a lot more fun, and that was a much needed change.
It's fun, sure, I binged heavily on it when I first got it, but as everyone else has said--it gets old. Fairly quickly. It's a good game to go back to when you're bored, but they're really aren't any actual goals. You can put one random piece of furniture in a room, and the villager you're designing for will have the same reaction. In reality, there's really no point to working hard on the houses you design except for your own amusement. There's absolutely no scoring or anything like that.
Overall, HHD is a 6-7/10, because it isn't bad. It just shouldn't have been it's own independent game, let alone a $40 one. I don't regret buying it, I just hope the improvements they made to everything in HHD will carry over into the next installment, plus some more.

I only got HHD because it came as a part of the standard N3DS bundle, and I had been desperately waiting for the standard N3DS to come to the US.

Quite honestly, I wish that I had just sold the download code on eBay :( I love the amiibo cards though! They're so cute :)

Designing homes is not my cup of tea... I guess it can be alright if you LOVE doing that, but I would get tired of it pretty quickly. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the money it costs. (40$ for what could have been a DLC? seriously? )
Besides, even if you create the crappiest houses, the villagers are going to be happy with what you do. There are absolutely no challenges whichh I think makes a game boring.
