in the end after you beat bowser in the final battle, it goes through ending credits/celebration/etc. but it goes back to where you last saved so it doesnt save, so you never actually beat Bowser.

Not really a spoiler.....Mario always fights Bowser..

So? Well...just save at the save spot right before the battle, and then when you beat it you'll just go back there before you beat him and you can leave the "place where you battle him" (not giving away where you battle him, its pretty obvious). I can't wait to compare stats, etc. or whatever was in that game, I forget it was so long ago when I mastered that game (my file better be there).
