welcome to peanut!

peanut is a small city-themed island located in the southern hemisphere with native apples and cosmos. we are absolutely drowning in black cosmos in particular! peanut is run by resident rep. art (me) with the help of side characters skye and ren.

although i say it's themed, the 'theme' is mostly "stuff i find cute and which makes me happy" which is lots of clutter, bright colors, and a slight japanese-retro/urban vibe! i was largely inspired to work on my island after seeing gorgeous city islands on twitter from players like @imotarez, @uxxixo, and @atumorimori23, and many more.

i plan on using this thread as both a showcase and an island journal, but we'll see what happens! after 1000+ hours and two full-island re-terraforms i'm finally at a point where i'm happy with my island, so i'm excited to share it with you all! thank you for reading!

island tour

peanut island's entrance! with not much space between the airport and resident services, visitors arrive and step out directly onto peanut's main street. i plan on changing up the gate + town square decor seasonally!

town square and museum! between the two there is a small laneway where musically-inclined villagers can stop to mess around with a piano

across the bridge to the right of the museum, there is a small fish market inspired by the recent diving update. visitors can come and look at the weird crabs or stop and have some food, either savory or sweet!

shops! nook's is on the main street with a bike rack on one side and an empty lot on the other. able sisters is directly behind them on a smaller street, along with a few smaller shops selling handmade toys leading up to the main residential area. a photo booth is also nearby in case you need a quick change of clothes!

up the stairs, there is a small playground in front of the residential zone where a majority of the animals live. there is another park at the very back of the island, with a nice lookout over the ocean and...a giant promo ad for an upcoming mecha vs. giant monster movie?!

island tour pt. 2

if you continue down the road past the lookout park to the right, it will take you down a double flight of stairs to a back-alley merchants' laneway that leads to redd's preferred parking spot. following the road back from here will lead you past some more houses, a small shinto-style shrine on the island's central hill, and back to the town square.

rather than following the road which takes you back to the city center, if you follow the stairs up to the left it takes you to the remaining villagers' houses, as well as a small fishing pond where visitors can rent a fishing rod or sit and cry about their broken fishing streak. peanut's campsite is located at the very back of the island among some trees and with a path directly onto the beach for a lovely view at sunrise.

villagers' houses

each animal's front yard is an attempt to reflect some of their personality while also staying nice and compact! these are not entirely finished yet. most animals have shared front yards since even with hardly any river, island space is still pretty limited.

...as i was waiting over 4 months for her amiibo card to arrive in the mail! (it got heavily delayed due to mine and the seller's countries being on lockdown.) she was my favourite villager in new leaf and i'm ecstatic to finally have her here!

development update from the last couple of days: working on a soccer field! i feel like it's mostly done...since there's no real way to cover up vertical cliffsides it'll do i think

EeFEXocUYAAjHaW.jpg

EeFEXn_UwAQAaGr.jpg

and a small stargazing spot! it's ladder access only, so it's a nice secluded little private area above the campsite where i can get a good view of the night sky on meteor nights...

EeBIJUxUMAAar01.jpg

...except it's currently the only spot on my island where snowballs will spawn, so it's surrounded by passive-aggressive imperfect snowmen. ugh
