People just confuse me with the constant switch between names. And weird, I thought L was the good one. And now I understand that Kira is more of a title.

Because there's more than one Kira.
Light is the first Kira.
Misa finds a Death Note and becomes the second Kira.
Light gives away his death note to save Misa and Higuchi gets it
Higuchi is caught by L and Light, and Light becomes Kira again
Then, Light thinks it's too dangerous for Misa to be the second Kira, so he instructs her to give her Death Note to Mikami, who becomes the Fourth Kira.
Then Light instructs Mikami to give several pages of the DN to Takada and make a fake notebook to trick Near, so Takada becomes the fifth Kira.

Kira normally would refer to Light Yagami, however, the title of Kira can also be used to describe any human user of a Death Note. The title or entity of Kira is one of the two opposing forces in Death Note, the other being L.
