Plain Wooden Shop Sign

Am I being really dense?
The plain wooden shop sign (the small customisable one that people often use in veggie patches): Is it a recipe or do you buy them from Nook's Cranny?
I have been playing for several months and never once seen it, and I would love to use it.
I'm not missing something am I?

Are you talking about this? It's a DIY, and there's a chance you just haven't come across it yet. I had to buy it from someone.

You also may be talking about the little flags people are putting down, but those are just custom designed flags that you can place.

I thought it was DIY, but I saw one place said DIY then another said it was buyable from Nook's Cranny and I was confused.

Think I might need to get it from somewhere else. It doesn't seem to want to find me on it's own.
