PLEASE help with 3-star rating!

yall do not understand the STRUGGLE. okay, maybe you do, but hear me out. i’ve been trying to boost my island ranking for three hours now; i’ve built almost all the nook mile diys, placed them in different acres, and built additional furniture to spread around. i have lots of flowers and probably over one hundred trees. i have all ten villagers. and my ranking. is still. two stars.

any tips on how to get to the third rank? isabelle keeps telling me to add “appealing scenery” by purchasing recipes for nook miles, but i’ve made almost every single one and it’s not doing anything. send help.

I've been seeing a lot of people struggling with this. It makes me really nervous for when I reach that point myself in a day or two. No one has specified how many objects they placed before getting the 3 star rating. Someone was speculating it had to do with villager count, but you just busted that myth since you have 10. Someone else did hypothesize that each day your rank goes up by 1, so it doesn't really matter what you do? I hope we get some answers soon

i agree! the game is so new that there aren’t any guides out and these rumors are just flying around... i just wanna unlock terraforming!

I was in the same boat. I built tons of diys etc. But then noticed Isabella saying something about Nook shopping. I put out a few of those items and immediately went to 3 star

I just got the three star rating today and all I've really done is plant and transplant some flowers,place random items around my house, place a couple of benches and a tire toy around the plaza and built up the infrastructure with five bridges and an incline.Maybe it's all of those bridges and the incline?How many bridges have you had built?I haven't chopped down any trees or lost any from villager house placements so I pretty much have all the trees I started the game with.

Isabelle keeps saying to grow the population. I really have to wait a day or two for me to get at least two stars.

Try building an incline at least or have you done fencing? Isabelle mentions that in her suggestions.

For me, I randomly put furnitures all over the island like 1 furniture in one area and 1 in another etc. The furniture didn't even match. I just crafted any furnitures I can and placed them randomly in hopes of getting that 3 star. I also had 2 bridges and 1 incline. In addition, I had 8 villagers then I got 3 star rating.

I only got three star rating once I got 10 villagers. Before that, she kept saying fencing and bridges/inclines.

It helps to keep asking isabelle the island evals.
It could be lack of villagers, not enough "scenery" (put more furnitures around island), too many things laying around, too many weeds...

Are you TTing to check with Isabelle?
Because she'll only update the status once a day. So, if you're checking with her on the same day she will just repeat the same status until the next day.

But, all I can say is get to 10 villagers, plant enough trees/flowers all around to fill in areas, and throw anything/everything around to decorate (around villager houses, around shops, something in each zone.

I was struggling with the 3-Star rating the other day so I feel you. I had placed a bunch of furniture, trees, and flowers outside as well as picked all my weeds but nothing was working. Then I built a third bridge and immediately my rating went to a third star LOL. I had 3 bridges and 1 incline total. Also make sure you have 10 villagers too!

I reached three stars by accident. I was fishing and catching bugs early in the morning before the shop opened and instead of using the deposit box, I just put all the creatures I caught around my house. Decided hey let’s go check my evaluations and it was up to three stars. I counted all my items I had randomly placed afterwards, and I had almost 50 put out (mostly fish and bugs but other items as well) and I had a lot of flower patches as I’m breeding for hybrids

This isn't entirely true, I went from 1 to 2 stars in the same day today because I added more furniture and fencing. She's still telling me to add more but if you talk to her over and over she'll tell you what else you're missing.

update: thanks everyone for your feedback, turns out i just had to tt a day ahead and i got that third star!

You might already know this but Isabelle does her evaluation when the day first starts. So if you change anything throughout the day it won’t affect the rating until the following day. Also do you have any fencing? Is your town weed free?

I believe it's really all about population and you automatically get a 3 star rating when you have 9 villagers

More that population helps your island rating A LOT. Most people seem to get it at 8 villagers, but if you haven't done much in your town, it could take more for the 3 stars.
