Ok so I'm plot resetting for my 8th villager and it's getting really annoying and confusing. This villager is being way more random then I expected. Every day I TT and start a new character, it'll show up, but it's not a good villager/in the wrong spot, so I reset, but the second time I start up the new character the villager doesn't show up! I have to TT to a different(new) day for it to show up again... it's really annoying because I can't keep TTing forward like this. I'm wondering if this is normal or??
I haven't had this problem with my previous random villagers.

Also, I've been TTing with 3DS clock and I was wondering if I can TT with Mayor character, back out and then start a new character? As long as I don't start up my mayor? Will it save the time? because my ACNL time and my 3DS clock are different for some reason and I can't sync up the 3DS time and ACNL time without changing one after another since the game is ALWAYS 2 days ahead of the 3DS clock no matter what I do. I can't mess around too much because I need to know where the new villager will move in since I'm holding someones things and I can't have them move in on top of their stuff, that'd be really terrible;;

this was way longer than I thought but I've been fiddling with this for hourssss

1. When you plot reset you don't need to TT at all, that could be your issue, unless you're doing it to get a different villager, which I've never heard of. It might be easier for you to just accept whoever comes in and then allow them to move out later on.

2. Since it's your 8th villager I'm gonna assume it's a new town, right? If so the plots WILL be very random because you don't have pwps to help nudge the villager in the right direction.

3. Plot resetting takes hours normally for most people, though you do occasionally get lucky. Only once have I ever had a villager take less than a half hour to plot, normally they take four+ hours. I've seen people who spend days on end resetting. It takes a LOT of patience.

"I can TT with Mayor character, back out and then start a new character? As long as I don't start up my mayor?"
This won't work. Unless you load up your mayor, changing the time that way won't do anything, since the time change won't actually take place until your town loads. When you plot reset you cannot touch your mayor at all.

I think I know what you're talking about.
I've also resetted randomly and sometimes, no one appeared at all. I TT'd to the final move day, and they became pretty frequent, but there were still very long periods with no one appearing - sometimes, for hours. I don't understand why, because there was always a house on the next day, but it made the entire thing pretty confusing.

My advice is:
Just save when there's no villager around, then stay on that day and try to get a villager from someone.
They don't have to be a dreamie purchase, you could also clear someones void or take unwanted villagers from cycling villages, etc. Just be careful with taking free villagers if you're not planning to let them stay in your town, some people don't like that.

Anyways, those villagers will appear 100%, each reset, and getting an okay plot is much easier that way.

About the 3DS and ingame time issue, if you use your mayor to change the time, it will either save, or the time won't be applied. Just wait until you're done moving in the villager and then change your Animal Crossing time to your 3DS time (2 days earlier). That should synch them.
If you change your 3DS time, your ACNL time will be affected.
If you change your ACNL time, your 3DS time won't be affected.

Thank you both for the answers! and Yeah like on the IG day that I began plot resetting they showed up so I reset and they just wouldn't show up anymore, but every TT I did they would show up once and then not show up again after the first reset and it was weird... but I got figured out now, found a day where it was consistent and I've been resetting all day but I finally got Del in a decent enough spot.. he's sorta in the way but for him I can live with it ;_;''

Thank you for the advice too, tbh, I didn't think to save on the day no one was there. I was mainly afraid of backing out and then once I logged onto the mayor to fix the time they would appear in a bad spot or something. Since they were being inconsistent like that.
