If you know me you know I like challenging myself in games like Pokémon and Fire Emblem, so I thought this thread would make for some good discussion.

Alright, so I don’t know how many people still play this, but I decided to do a second playthrough of the game because I didn’t really care for the starters I chose the first time. I chose Pikachu and Eevee as my MC and partner this time, and somehow just blazed through the game without ever blacking out once thanks to using resources efficiently, getting strong quickly, and doing everything well. I almost ALMOST beat the game including the final boss of the main story without ever losing in a dungeon, but unfortunately was low on resources and didn’t think to use codes for more, so we got wiped out by the final boss.

Just wondering, but has anyone beat the game with a perfect playthrough (no losing in a dungeon) or know anyone who has? I don’t think it would be as hard to do as some past titles in the series, but I’m curious. For reference, what kept me going through a lot of it was Pikachu with Thunder with perfect accuracy, the Funnel Fun ability, Eevee with moves like Take Down and Refresh (insanely useful move in this game) and the Wary Walk ability, and a Scyther with moves like Brutal Swing and Razor Wind and the Exp Boost ability.

I've only lost once in an early game dungeon because of hunger and didn't know you could switch through teammates. To be fair, I only played the second Mystery Dungeon games and the option to change leaders was not unlocked until postgame for that one. Also didn't know that you can rescue your own team with your other recruited pokemon.

I will say, this one's main game felt A LOt easier than Explorers was. That may have to do with this game's main game being a lot shorter, and dungeons are not as long. Rare Qualities replacing IQ def made a huge difference in the difficulty curve. I was extremely lucky my partner got Steamroll as their first rare quality. I played as Cubone and my partner was Pysduck. Pysduck had Water pulse, Zen headbutt, disable (which was not very useful) and Ice beam very early on, which helped a little with the legendary birds and tremendously with Raquazza. I had access to Brutal Swing, Flamthrower, and Bonemerang, which paired with Steamroll worked very well against everything, including flying types. Honestly any long distance moves are kind of OP, because you can knock stuff out before they even get near you.

I actually struggled a bit post-game, I felt like the difficulty was amped up. I took a few jobs at Darknight Relic after the credits and was not prepared at all. I ended up using an escape orb before finishing the dungeon.
