Do you nickname your Pokemon? If so, what kind of nicknames have you given your Pokemon? Is there a favorite nickname that you've given?

Some of my favorite nicknames that I've given my Pokemon are...

  • Vespionage the shiny Vespiquen - just a combination of Vespiquen and espionage. Nothing too special, I just like the way it sounds
  • Nimbus the Raikou - named after the flying nimbus from Dragon Ball, which I binge watched while hunting for my shiny Raikou. The flying nimbus and the cloud on shiny Raikou's back almost share the same color
  • Royaille the shiny Regigigas - trying to figure out a name for a shiny Regigigas was a huge pain in the ass for me when I was hunting it, so I just combined two words that related to him; Royal due to the fact he created the Regi Trio, and Braille since it is used in the tombs for all of the Regis

I can't think any of my favorite nicknames I've given to my pokemon as of now and I'm too lazy to get my 3DS and look at them, but I do have some nicknames that I've always wanted to use:

Gdon the Arcanine - It's from Hindu mythology and I got the idea from Persona 4, since it appears as a fire tiger and I used it in my first playthrough of that game.

Cu Sith the Shiny Espeon - Another one I got from Persona. It's a green fairy dog with large ears in its artwork for Persona 4 and I just thought it would be perfect for a shiny espeon (even though its artwork is kind of terrifying)

Jupiter the Staraptor - I just think this one sounds cool. I came up with it from the 'star' in staraptor's name and linked it with celestial stuff.

I might post more :> I love coming up with nicknames for pokemon

Yeah sometime I do, mainly after random musicians I like XD Most I use are traded though so i can't change em.

If I can think of something clever and/or super simple for them, yes, I do. It gives a more unique taste for me and if someone ever tries to steal my pok?mon, i will notice it due to the nickname and OT.

One of the pokemons I gave a nickname to is Poochyena. I called him fang and it evolved into Mightyena. Ever since then, Fang has been in my travels.
Another one is my Buizel, Swift. I never wanted him to evolve though. I wanted him to stay as a buizel as Buizel is my favorite pokemon from Sinnoh.

I like to come up with a theme I want to base my Pokemon team around and come up with members and names accordingly. Or I'll pick really neat sounding words that are related somehow to the Pokemon. I just restarted my old Silver game and named my little Cyndaquil Vulcan.

I always give my main team nicknames as well as my non-legendary shinies I catch. For some reason I don't seem to nickname legends. Anyways some of my faves have been:

Bobo the Ampharos
Starscream the Staraptor
Sapphire the Milotic

There were several more but that's all I could think of at the moment.

Like PrinceBel above, I also tend to figure out themes to build teams around and then nickname the Pokemon accordingly. I nickname every member of every team I use unless it's an event legendary you don't get the option to nickname, though I don't usually use those in normal playthroughs anyway.

One of my favorite nicknames that I've used is probably Harbinger for my shiny Gliscor. Gligar was the first shiny Pokemon I encountered (other than the Lake of Rage Gyarados) and, after grinding Battle Points to get the Razor Fang, I evolved it as soon as possible. I mulled over what to name him for a long while. I was originally going to name him Diego or Charger because shiny Gliscor's coloration reminded me of the San Diego Chargers football team, but neither of those seemed appropriate.

I decided on Harbinger for a few reasons. First, I was playing Mass Effect 2 at the time and I thought "Hey, that might sound nice." The other, more important reason, is that a harbinger is defined as a person or thing that announces or signals the approach of another. I knew I wanted more shiny Pokemon, so Harbinger the Gliscor marked the beginning of my quest to acquire more shinies. I've gone on to hatch and encounter various other shiny Pokemon since then, so he was technically true to his name.

I just remembered a cute combination of nicknames I have. I randomly encountered a shiny Bunnelby in Pokemon X and named him bugs as he's white and grey. Later in Alpha Sapphire I had a friend who wanted me to get them a female Buneary and my first DexNav encounter was a shiny Buneary, whom I nicknamed Lola to go with Bugs. ^_^

Should have named your Garchomp Rin, rather than your Charizard, lol.
