Hey all! Decided to do some sort of Roleplaying thing over here, but with Pokemon!
I've decided to make my own region for this, the Norjig region, filled with Pokemon that are people-created, along with older Pokemon too. I'm not done finished with making the entire set-up yet, the story, but I figured I'd post it here to get some discussion/sign-ups started. It's going to be completely sandbox. So you're able to follow the main story-line if you want to, but you could also do basically whatever you want. This was heavily inspired by an RP I'm playing on GameFAQs, and I really love how it's going so far, and I wanted to host one, so here we are.
Takes place in the made up region, Norjig.
There is an overall plot, but it's still a sandbox. You can choose your side - trainer or Team Nature. Trainers have the sandbox, but Nature grunts have missions and incentives- they don't have a full sandbox 100% of the time, but they are rewarded. Decisions and victories/losses affect the rest of the RP.
On the other hand, there are Pokemon to capture, other people to battle, the badges are still there, the entire world's open (with a few incentives for traveling around when the opportunity presents itself), the Pokemon aren't restricted to the region, and there's a lot to do. You can have your character do his or her own stuff throughout the story.
I must emphasize these choices again- be careful with your decisions. If you're too careless, you could unintentionally lock yourself into something that will not provide you with a desirable outcome. Basically, there will be consequences for actions. Don't complain when I give you the chance to stop then you keep pushing.

Team Nature is trying to restore the balance of the world, where Pokemon and people should be separated and not kept so-close together all the time. The team is ruled by Mother Nature, a nameless leader who seeks only one thing: change.
The time period is mimicked of olden age, where there is barely any technology, people can't communicate wirelessly, and the land is ruled by a king with an army.
The current king, King Dagur, is married to Queen Nott, who spends time traveling the Norjig Region, rests in Odinborough City and controls the army of this land, trying to protect the people and Pokemon of this land. He is an outward hater of Team Nature, and is trying to use his army to find and destroy all of Team Nature.

1: No metagaming. Just because Justin knows that Rasumii's character is going to ambush Justin's character, doesn't mean that Justin's character knows that Rasumii's character is going to ambush him.
2: I would appreciate good grammar and good spelling, and I think that others would too. Adding to this, try not to be redundant with writing. You don't need to stammer, question, tell everything. Said, ask, and responded work fine. It's not a big deal, and it's really more of a suggestion, but it makes everything easier to read.
3: Remember, just because one character is your mortal enemy IC doesn't mean you should hate them OOC. Try to be polite in civil for OOC conversations (denoted with parentheses).
4: You may not control a shiny or legendary Pokemon without permission unless you have captured said Pokemon (after you capture it, you will not be able to fully control it until I make a post that it is under your control). As a result, you may not randomly find shiny Pokemon, legendary Pokemon, or eggs (which I will also control). I will also determine when a Pokemon evolves (with the exceptions of Pokemon that evolve through stones, which I will distribute, and trades), so if you have a specific request for evolutions, please let me know.
5: Feel free to sign up at any time! (Unless it gets TOO big and TOO messy that I have to close all sign-ups, which I think I may have to).
6: I will control most named NPCs - mostly Nature admins, gym leaders, the Elite Four, the champion, and professors (as well as a few others). If you do not have permission, please do not control one of those characters.
If it's a minor character (i.e. a random Silph co. worker), first person to get to that character gets to control him/her, but I still need to OK it - don't immediately claim an NPC unless it's a parent or family member (or one you've controlled before, of course). Cops and grunts are off-limits unless specifically noted otherwise. I also have to OK all NPC Pokemon.
7: Don't control someone else's character. If tired of waiting for him or her to respond, just say that your character got bored or something like that.
This includes doing an action, such as grabbing, without giving the other a chance to respond.
For example:
Good: May tries to grab Brendan to escort him through Petalburg Forest.
Bad: May grabs Brendan and drags him through Petalburg Forest.
Note how the second one does not give the character a chance to respond or not do this. In fact, if the second were allowed, the RP would go like this:
Maxie casually walks around Hoenn. He sees Ash, releases his Camerupt, captures Ash, and steals Ash's Pokemon. He then proceeds to do the same to everybody else.
See the problem?
So in short- never directly affect another character's actions without explicit permission unless you control said character.
8: Your choices play a large role in this. Be careful with your actions- players have caused the deaths of themselves and their Pokemon before by not being careful. Furthermore, there will sometimes be limited windows to catch Legendary Pokemon. Let me know if you want to be a participant in a particular Legendary event. I'll subtly urge you to go do something. If you miss your chance despite an invite, you missed your chance.
9: This is more of a hybrid between of CYOA and an RP than one or the other. This means that despite it being close to a sandbox, there may be actions that you cannot do for plot reasons. If that is the case, there will always be something else for your character to do. Try coming back later or just message me if you're lost.
10: Don't force things to happen. If you want a specific Pokemon not normally accessible in your location, shoot me a PM, and I'll start up a scenario for you.
11: While Pokemon can have personalities and can be somewhat smart, they are not fully fledged characters. This means that they are not extremely intelligent. They understand basic commands, praise, and so on through tone, context, etc., but they do not understand full sentences, they cannot write, and they cannot perform tasks that any animal would be unable to perform.
12: A trainer must physically release their Pokemon from their balls in order for them to come out of their Pokeballs. They cannot come out on their own.
13: It's okay if you need to take an extended break; let me know, and I'll make a quick list of what happened during your time away so that you'll be able to hop right back in.
14: Any questions, just let me know.

Due to the large number of people on the site, you may only create one character. I will Accept or Deny your Sign-up depending if anything interferes with the plot, or just doesn't make sense. Most of the time, it'll be accepted.
I may be busy and will respond to this thread when I get the chance to. So I may be away and unable to do something, but I'll usually let you guys know if I won't be around.
