If new cooking recipes were to be added to the game, what would you like to see?

For example, should any cooking recipes include frogs, turtles, and octopi as ingredients? Should bugs (like snails, grasshoppers, and scorpions) be used in recipes? Should beekeepers' hives in the game be used to create honey by storing honeybees?

Sounds like an interesting concept. I mean if we could use creatures to make certain dishes that would be cool. I mean we already can use fish to make certain dishes so that would make it interesting if there was the option to use bugs to make certain dishes. In fact this is a thing that exist in real life and according to Google:

"Insects can be supplied fresh, alive, dried, powdered, and even in already-prepared foods such as energy bars and cookies. So no matter where you are on your insect-fueled journey, you can get what you need."

i... certainly wouldn’t eat any recipe that has bugs in it lmao, but it’d definitely be interesting to see what those recipes could be! maybe chocolate-covered insects or something, since those are a thing irl? or like @/VanitasFan26 said, they’re used in protein bars and other snacks as well — insect cookies could be a fun recipe for flick to hand out as a prize during bug-offs (maybe they wouldn’t include actual insects since he loves them so much, though; maybe they’d just be designed to look like them lol), or maybe even an escargot (snails) recipe? c.j. could hand out some more fish recipes as well! i’m not sure what foods involve frogs or turtles, but octopi would be a good ingredient; lots of recipe potential there lol. shark-fin soup could be another recipe as well.

being able to store honeybees in the beekeepers’ hive and get honey from them would be super cool, too! as for other recipes i’d like to see, i’m a sucker for desserts lol, so maybe some brownies, milkshakes, stuff like that? or even fettuccine alfredo, since that’s one of my favourite foods irl haha. i’m also surprised fruit cake wasn’t added as a recipe.

I think being able to catch honeybees and put them in the beekeeper hives to get honey is a great idea! could also be cool if having honeybees by your flowers could help you get hybrids in some way. i wouldn't mind other recipes with bugs or whatever in them, its not real so it dont bother me. it would also be cool to have more seasonal recipes.

That's actually a cool idea. Reminds me of Stardew Valley and how the beekeeper hives supply honey. And if you planted different flower types around it the honey would be different. Sort of like how bees can flavor the honey differently by pollinating different plants nearby. Like buckwheat, alfalfa, ect. It's pretty cool actually.

@VanitasFan26 Heck yeah. I want choco-cricket bar! Sign me up!

I think it'd be cool if you could craft the donuts that Redd supplies. That way you wouldn't have to be stuck just to his rng to get a donut. And maybe be able to craft a donut platter/box.

I was actually hoping to see some recipes prepared with insects, in order to balance the ones made from fish and sea creatures. If the next game has cooking (or returns to just plainly buying food from stores), I do want to see those dishes- they're an important part of cuisine around the world.

Your shark fin soup idea is great, and it reminded me of a food called Icelandic Fermented Shark.

As for what dishes involve frogs and turtles, well there'd be frog legs, turtle soup, and turtle eggs (though I do imagine that Nintendo might not add turtle cooking due to consumption of turtles being considered poaching in many countries).

I would love to see recipes that include making things like salads for weeds harvested. Most plants that people consider “weeds” growing outside are actually usually good medicine or can be eaten, or drank as tea.
Side note: I always thought it was quite weird how some animals can be used in cooking, some don’t have personalities and then some do in AC (villagers). Why do cats have personalities, but fish don’t? Why are dogs catching bugs with a net? Maybe it’s just restricted to mostly mammals, I suppose, with the exception of frog villagers. Wait… frogs as villagers, but you can catch turtles? Hmmm

I don't really know the answer to all that, but I can come up with an explanation of being able to catch turtles, frogs, and octopi despite having them as villagers and special NPCs: The catchable ones are a different species from the anthropomorphic ones. Though that does bring up a question: If, say, a frog villager were to eat a normal frog, would that qualify as cannibalism?
