I've been playing all my AC games again and I've come to really really appreciate how naturally forming paths can look. They look so good Ive been taking away most of my tiles out and let the flowers and trees do their work, also it ups my hybrid chances(in other games that arent nl because its super easy)

The only thing I'd like is to maybe change the color of the dirt or maybe the stone tiling of the town square and other important landmarks.

But yeah, what do you guys think? Let nature run your town or go against it with custom designs? And do you have any legit controversial opinions?

I have always wanted natural dirt paths, but I don't have the patience to run up and down all day to make them. I'm jealous of people who can get them.

I think they are fine in moderation and with what feels like legitimate wear and tear... this feature in City Folk/Let?s Go to the City was a bit too sensitive, harsh, and fast for my liking. I think they struck a much better balance afterwards. I am okay with them as long as it?s not as dramatic as City Folk, it can be cute.

Are there people who were happy with how it was in CF? I feel like when this installment came out, there was an uproar.

I love dirt paths but don't care for the effort and maintenance that comes with it. Also, I went with pattern tiles because it keeps villagers from plotting in bad areas.

I like both natural dirt paths or patterns if they're done well. Sometimes it depends on the theme or feeling of the town, too. I think dirt paths make a lot of sense in a more natural or foresty town, while pattern paths look really nice in a more developed, town-like setting.

I tried to use a pattern path in my town, but I had too much trouble laying it out. It didn't look right and disrupted the flow of my town, so I went with a dirt path/stepping stone combination. I actually don't worry about the upkeep on the dirt paths at all. Just sticking to my paths as I make the rounds of my town is enough to maintain them. They take a good month or so to wear in after the new grass in spring since I don't put any effort into it, but I kind of like the way they look during the transition too. It always looks natural to me no matter what stage of grass wear I have.

I personally couldn't have the patience for dirt paths but I think if you do them right or your town is very 'natural' then I think they could look really good in towns! For me though haha, I kind of wish my grass would grow back a lil quicker ^^;;

I haven't bothered making any type of path. I don't have the patience for making dirt or a patterned path. I love seeing them though. I've been thinking about just making my own grass pattern and putting it all over. I saw one recently on youtube. It had stars all over it. If I could design one with stars and moons I'd be so happy.

I'd actually LOVE dirt paths, but sadly don't have the patience for making them lol. Is it possible for others to help with them? If so, I may plan something one day.

Oh I was playing City Folk again and the grass tear kinda bugs me! It is a pretty rewarding feeling slowly growing it back though. I really don't care for that garish yellow color of the ground, I like the brown subtle mud color of New Leaf.

I think dirt paths are the prettiest, but I'm already having difficulties with laying out and maintaining normal paths lol. I've always thought pattern paths looked a bit 'unnatural' and random. I had to get used to them and I've only started to like them in NL. But yeah, I like dirt paths the best.

I have mixed feelings about dirt paths. I don't dislike them, but I don't like them either. What they need is a much option for restoring the grass if people don't want them. In City Folk it didn't work as it should have, and in New Leaf is still takes a while to grow back. While true in the real world, it's a game and people don't want to be annoyed by that. If I see any, I want them to be there on my own terms. Or if they must be there, have them predetermined from the start.

So like a Wild World sort of thing? The grass stays consistent but wheres the fun in that?!?!

If I wanted to have paths in my town, then I made them out of lucky clovers. Dirt paths are nice and all, however, the time as well as work you have to spend to create them is kinda too much stress for me and since I do time traveling, they would disappear anyway when the grass grow back, so it would be a waste of time for nothing at the end. I'm not really a big fan of QR code/pattern paths, like I don't have a problem with people who using them, it just not my thing.

I don?t particularly like the way QR paths look, especially because anything but right angles look absolutely ridiculous. I pulled up all of my QR paths and now have somewhat twisty ?natural? paths that I enjoy, just bordered with trees/bamboo/bushes/flowers, although not all portions are properly dirt (and that doesn?t matter much to me). BUT I have some amount of fear that a random move in is going to place a house on an inconvenient part of the path, since I don?t have QR designs down to stop them. Most of the time is doesn?t matter since my paths are pretty windy and they can just be readjusted to wind around a house, but I?ve already had to move two bridges and relandscape everything around them.

That being said, I am almost positive that ac switch will do something about this.

I think the dirt paths in New Leaf look good. People say it was too much in City Folk but I haven't played that one.

I get a lot of dirt paths in my town because I have one really specific path I take. However, I don?t really like the way they look :( in the areas where I was to plant a lot of flowers, I think it makes the ground look kinda ugly! I like the green look a lot better!
