I felt the need to express my gratitude to this wonderful woman.

Not sure if any of ya'll know about the massive wildfire destroying Eastern Tennessee, but it has wiped out most of the Cherokee National Forest near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, leaving the tourism industry there at a screeching halt.

Hundreds to thousands of homes lost, countless businesses gone, people are missing, and several are dead.
Not to mention, that the forest was one of the main reasons for the tourism (Fall leaves in the mountains)- and now it's lost. The area may never be the same again.
It's been terrifying, as I live only thirty miles from the destruction and every day the sky is orange and filled with smoke and ash. I never know when I go to sleep at night if the fires will come to get us too.

I've been vigilant in reading new stories and following the updates closely.
Today, I read a story about Dolly Parton- for those who do not know, she owns a large amusement park in Pigeon Forge called DollyWood, and many other attractions in the area. She grew up in the area so it's very close to her heart.

To get straight to my point- despite her loss of revenue from the area being evacuated, and the probable loss of many of her businesses, she has declared that she will donate 1000$ a month to each family that has lost their home until they can rebuild.

My heart breaks.

i hadn't heard about this but that's rly nice of her. it's all over local news here (guess that's to be expected living so close to it), that's just about all that's on.

i hope you stay safe!

I read this the other day. She is seriously amazing. What a doll, no pun intended. <3

I was so happy when she said how much she would be donating to the families in Tennessee. I have family down there who lost their homes, and it is such a blessing for her to do that. Thanx Dolly!:)

Stay safe! It makes me sad to hear that because I've been in that area before back in 2009.:(
