Okay, so I destroyed my cobblestone bridge the game came with because I wanted to have two bridges that matched but I can't put the bridge back in the exact same spot because it's too close to a resident's home on one side and too close to the cafe on the other side. I can't put it back... in the same spot??? Why??
I tried moving down the river and it's too close to either residents' homes or the campsite all the way down the entire river. I don't want any of these villagers to move out... is there anything I can do?

The only thing I can think of is moving out one of the villagers and having someone trade them back to me just so I can have ONE. SINGLE. BRIDGE....

Isabelle is so picky about everything, I had to retry four times to get her to let me place it where I want.
And it was a stupid 1x1 instrument shelter!
Honestly, all there is to do keep shifting bit by bit until Isabelle accepts the placement.

Bridge placement is stupid. I built my house next to a bridge when I first started the game, 3 months later in-game, I took the bridge down and tried to rebuild it, but Isabelle would not let me. :(

That happened to me when I replaced my cobblestones with suspension bridges. Annoying!

For one bridge I tore down the PWPs in the way, built the bridge, then rebuilt the PWPs.

For the other bridge I had to give up and pick another spot (I placed my police station in a horrible spot!!). The other spot was even closer to my police station, but Isabelle allowed it. Now I like it better, but at the time I was annoyed.

Right?! It's probably the most disappointing part of the game!

You should at least be able to move your own house or a PWP! I don't think you NEED to be more than four spaces away from anything to build something that only covers water... :(

How did she let you do it closer? This gaaaaame!

Ugh, I feel for you. This happened to me, and I had to let a dreamie leave. :/
I know it probably doesn't make you feel any better, but it has happened to a lot of people. It's one of the few dumb things in the game.

If I understood correctly though, part of the problem is with the cafe though on the other side, it won't matter if you let the villager leave, you won't be able to build the bridge still cuz of the cafe. And that can't be demolished. So really try to see if you can live without that bridge in that spot, or if there's another spot you can build it.

This is why I just cannot place anything permanent next to a bridge..

But yeah it's really badly handled. I hope in the next ac game the pwps will take less 'invisible' space around them

When I started making my second town an actual town I had to cycle 16 for Knox. During this cycle I also decided to replace the bridges but all the villagers would not leave my bridges alone... Even at the end of the cycle I still had some bridges to replace x-x What a painnn

Omg this happens all the time for me. I had my original cobblestone bridge literally one step behind The Roosts when I built in, and then I tried to move it over when I destroyed it and damn Isabelle wouldn't let me put it a n y w h e r e.

Same thing happened to me! Had my cobblestone bridge between two residents homes, but it was reeeeally convenient in that place! So I tried to build the new bridge in the same spot just as you, but Isabelle never let me :'c so... I understand your pain <3

Yeah that's why I did not build my house by a bridge, that is also why I don't build any public works projects near bridges because I know Isabelle is super picky about placement.

You might be able to place another bridge there if you get an action replay (if they still sell those, I haven't seen one in awhile)

You can keep trying I guess

Wait actually I have an idea! Have you ever heard of the tripping glitch? Get the Pharaohs head and wear it, than dig holes around you and keeping tripping until you fall into the river than maybe when you ask Isabelle to place it there, she will let you.

I don't know if it will work, it's just a thought.

This reminded me of the time when I started a topic on GameFAQs about how to fire Isabelle. The background the OP had here is much similar to my background when I started that thread.

Isabelle is not a perfect character.

I wish Nintendo would have released updates or something to fix this issue, it's ridiculous. It's one of the reasons I find placing PWPs so tedious and annoying. Maybe if we could have a much more visual guide of where we're placing our things, more control over it.
Nook is also very finicky about where you can place your house but at least not as much as Isabelle. Also, we should be able to demolish rocks! Just have a new one spawn somewhere else or something, seriously.

First of all, LOVE your avatar. Hercules beetles = <3

Second, I feel your pain. I stopped letting villagers plot anywhere NEAR the river. I had my bridges all set up, then Caroline moved in right in front of one of my bridges due to an unfortunate plot resetting accident. I couldn't really move it, as I had other villagers lining the river. So I just had to wait until Caroline left, then put my bridge back.
