Not sure if this is a good place for my question so please lmk if it should be posted elsewhere.
In ACNH, you can go and visit other people’s islands and you can have others visit yours. Whenever anyone visits or leaves, everyone has their game forcedly paused until the party is finished entering/leaving.
Why does this happen? Isn’t there a more user friendly way of doing this? Ive seen plenty of games where people can ragequit or join and no one even notices, so why cant that happen with ACNH?
Thanks for any input!

Its generally because of how Nintendo handles online, which is peer to peer in many of their games. Pausing gameplay ensures that nothing can screw up with the data of the player as well as the server, and Animal Crossing has a lot of data to handle.
