If an auction ends, but the highest bidder isn't available by the time, what do I do to sell the item or villager? Do I extend the time or give it to the second highest bidder?

I am trying to sell Marshal, and I want to sell him before he is voided.

I would message the highest bidder, but if they don't respond in the time that you want the item or villager gone, I would give it/them to the second highest bidder. It's all about if they're available, of course.

Auctions in Re-Tail, TBT Marketplace, and Villager Trading Plaza
When hosting an auction for your items or moving villagers, you must follow through with the sale unless you explicitly stated that the auction results are subject to be changed. Otherwise, the auction winner may give the host negative feedback for failing to complete the sale. The auction winner may also receive negative feedback if he or she fails to follow through with the purchase. Include as many rules with your auction as you feel fit, such as starting bid price, time limit, and bidding increments.

I would say give the auction winner as much time as possible to claim the item, and if they are unavailable consider giving it to the runner up. However I am assuming that you stated in the op of your auction the time restrictions that you are facing. Also even though this topic is discussed in the thread I linked, you can also use this instead of making an entire thread.

I found out that the winner is from the UK, which is 6 hours ahead of my time. I think he/she should be asleep by now, so shall I pass it down to the runner-up right away?

Okay, I'm not sure if it's against the auction rules to do so, but I'm thinking about limiting my future auctions to users from the United States or Canada due to time zone conflict. Marshal might be voided by the time that bidder is available. The reason so is because the site rules don't allow auctioneers to pick other bidders when an auction ends. I set the end to 9 PM, the highest bidder is six hours ahead, and nobody else bidded after him/her. I don't think Marshal would be sold at all if this was the case and the rules restrict getting around it.

I traveled backwards in time on the same day to hold Marshal for the highest bidder. I'm gonna give it to the highest bidder on the thread. I'll give him time until tomorrow.

You need to follow through with the rules you stated for the auction in the future. Remember that not everyone is in the same time zone and if you have to say that you 'can't be available after this time' then your bidders are aware of that before placing their bids. Murray is right on the rules for this.

Thanks for some advice. Anyway, I didn't extend the auction, but I did extend time for the bidder to pick up Marshal by time traveling backwards in the same day. I don't have school tomorrow, so I think he/she has plenty of time. Is that considered cheating?

No, time travelling is not considered cheating, you can play your game however you want.
