Question about my villager's house plot

I recently kicked out Alice from my island. And now I have an empty plot. I decided to TT a couple days so I could get a new villager instead of having to work for nook miles and travel and find a villager I want. Well after I TT I hoped to see that someone was gonna move into the plot. And no one has. It takes 2 days. And im very confused. I really want a new villager but im far to busy to go through all the process right now. Can anyone give me some advice as to why a villager hasn't shown up yet? I will note that I TT another couple days and still nothing happened.

I think, if you have more than the first 5, you have to invite someone in either from a mystery island or the campsite.

Sometimes it just takes longer for someone to show up. Have you gone to visit someone recently or have anyone to your island? Maybe just let the day start over without time traveling.

You don’t have to invite them from either. I have had villagers show up without finding them myself.

Good to know. I used amiibo, after the first 5, so I wasn't entirely certain.
