Question about RVs?

Hey, I'm still getting back into ACNL and a bit unsure about the RVs. I know there's obviously certain characters that can show up of their own accord (eg I think I have Chip today), but are there also others that I can only get by doing something? If so, I assume I need to buy an amiibo card or figurine or what? I have no idea about amiibo but getting a new 3ds xl next month so would be cool to get into maybe!

If I'm somewhat right about this, can anyone please tell me which campers will show up on their own, and which won't unless I do whatever I need to? Is there a list or something?

Please and thank you!

Welcome amiibo update allows you to use Series 1-4 and Welcome amiibo series Animal Crossing trading cards to summon villagers to your town. In order to get them into your town, you need a card reader (which is actually really hard to find I think) or a new 3ds XL. You also have to find Wisp's lamp in your town to be able to actually read them. The update gives your town a Campground, where 2 RV's can be present. There's the everyday ones, which have the Holiday NPC's and some random ones (Pascal, for example). You could probably find a whole list. There's also the figures (K.K., Reese, Lottie, etc.) that are still for sale and the cards. The NPC's that have a figure can only come to your Campground via RV by scanning the figure. The amiibo figure NPCs will never be random RV visitors.

For the cards, Series 1-4 is still being sold and has NPC cards and all the villagers in New Leaf's cards. I believe that you can only scan in the villager cards, and they do not have an RV. When you ask them to move into your town, they will make a plot like a normal villager would. The only thing I don't know is if they plot automatically after your meeting with them, or if they plot the next day.

Welcome amiibo card series is much more rare and is not for sale anymore. It contains 50 villagers from previous games that are making a comeback. When you scan them in, they will appear in an RV in your campground. There you can order furniture and ask them to move into your town. After you ask them to move in I believe they plot the next day. I don't think you can ask someone to scan in their RV and then ask the villager to move in from there. I think you have to have that other person allow them to plot in their town, and then they have to ask to move. There are still some of this serie's cards floating around on Amazon and e-bay and other sites.

I think Nintendo has a list of all the figures and cards and which series everyone belongs to.

Thank you! Still a little confused - so I know there are amiibo cards and figurines - which will I need to get the RVs, or is it either? Thanks!

From what I've found on nintendo's site it says that the cards and figurines do the same thing - assuming I'm interpreting this correctly, is there a benefit over one or the other (in terms of ACNL)? Or are some characters only available as a card and some only available as a figure?

If I were to start collecting the cards for the purpose of RVs, could anyone please point me in a good direction to start (aka which are most useful)? I will try to look up lists of amiibo RVs in the meantime as I'm still kind of clueless haha!

There are two ways to get RVs: amiibo figures and Welcome amiibo series cards.

The Welcome amiibo series cards are not on sale anymore. They contain 50 villagers from previous Animal Crossing titles that were not in New Leaf on release. The only way to get them is through sellers that are not Nintendo. Ebay and Amazon are good places to buy some. On Etsy you can find cards that are not Nintendo made but still work. You can also trade for them in the amiibo Card Post Office on these forums (https://www.belltreeforums.com/forumdisplay.php?157-Animal-Crossing-amiibo-Card-Post-Office), or buy/trade for some on the amiibo swap reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/amiiboSwap/). I cannot vouch for these as I've never tried them out before.

You don't need to be in possession of the Welcome amiibo cards to get or own the items that come from the RVs. These forums have a place to buy and trade for items (https://www.belltreeforums.com/forumdisplay.php?81-Re-Tail), which you can use either the forum currency or in-game currency to get. If you want the actual villager, however, you'll have to go to the Villager Trading Plaza (https://www.belltreeforums.com/forumdisplay.php?85-Villager-Trading-Plaza) and work out a deal there. It is now not really realistic or possible to fully collect all the cards unless you are extremely rich or buy the illegitimate ones.

The amiibo figures that work with New Leaf are listed here (https://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/games/detail/animal-crossing-new-leaf-3ds) and will bring in an RV into your campground. A few RVs from a figure will contain a villager you can ask to move in, but not all will.

The only card series that you can still collect and buy are Animal Crossing Cards Series 1-4. They contain villagers that were in New Leaf on release. These cards do not summon RVs nor do they have rare items that are only obtainable from them. You use them to get villagers to move in or to get a random item.

You will know which cards are RV cards and which ones are not because the ones with RVs have an RV on them.

I'm sorry if I seemed harsh/rude, I'm not trying to come off that way. I hope that this has helped, and if you are still confused I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my abilities.
