Question about trading villagers!

Hello! I know this may not be in the right section, but this is just a short little thread I needed to make because I want to get an answer preferably soon. A few days ago, I found out my deer villager, Diana, would be moving out. This was good because even though I liked her, her house was in an annoying spot and one of my good friends really wanted to have her in his town. Of course I said he could have her, but this is the first time I've ever traded villagers. I do want to trade my villagers in the future to get dreamies and stuff, but unfortunately if I don't know how to do it properly, I'm afraid I'll end up getting bad WiFi feedback and stuff like that, then people may not want to trade with me. ;;

So what happened is he came to my town and spoke to Diana. He went back to his town and I left the time in my town the same. This was because if our trade was not successful he could still come back and get Diana. He time travelled forward a day but yet no signs of Diana, even though she said she would be moving to his town. He came back and tried again and she definitely said she'd move to his town: Even when I spoke to her she'd say she would be moving to his town and wanted me to come visit her. Well, now he's gone back to his town and hasn't TT'd forwards and neither have I. We're both very worried that if this trade goes wrong he'll lose Diana and she'll go to waste, only for him to end up with maybe another character, since he has 8 villagers at the moment and is awaiting his 9th and 10th one. Of course if she is definitely moving he will get her soon, but we just need to know what's happening!

I don't know about villagers from other towns, but when I got Mira from the campsite, she took 3 days to move in. Maybe it's the same for traded villagers? If I didn't miss anything, you did everything right.

Yeah I know, I've heard that sometimes it takes a few days which doesn't make much sense, but thank you very much. :3 I won't worry so much now, since I did hear that even if you time travel when trying to get rid of a villager it won't work because it starts counting down the hours by itself, if that makes sense, so! ;; I dunno, I just didn't want to muck things up. We did everything right so we were just worried whether or not to TT forwards or not! Anyway thank you very much for your help!

I have done just a few trades. But in my experience, once someone came and talked to my villager, I would save, they then left by me ending the session. If I went to the house, it would simply save "moved out". I wasn't able to go in the house, it was dark. In the cases where I have gone to another town to pick up a villager, I had the plot the very next day. I would think though that if he had a villager in boxes the next day, he likely wouldn't see the plot until the following day.
