That's one of the benefits of getting "Happy Home Designer." You can see, from my Signature, which villagers I have in my three active "New Leaf" towns. And I have had others which are no longer in given towns. With "Happy Home Designer," I can encounter some villagers I haven't had in any of my "New Leaf" towns. I can spend some time with them.
