When anything in general (such as games and movies) are centered on the world tour theme, why do they always associate each country or continent with the same thing, such as:

- the United States with cities?
- Africa with its wildlife?
- the United Kingdom with the Victorian Era?
- Greece with Ancient Greece?

The list can go on and on, but you understand what I mean.

Because that's what each of them are most famous for.

Basically this, and that it's an easy way to make each location distinct from one another. Though I agree that tropes like this can definitely become stale if you overuse them without adding anything new.

Especially when the US is associated with cities. It has a large variety of wildlife and many cultures (like the Texas culture). I would use anything related to the US to fit the US theme, not just New York City or the wild west.

As long as they do it in moderation and don't overdo it/use tourist stereotype things Idc really.

I think it's just what most people associate those countries/continents with. It's what they recognize and know. It wouldn't work as well if places would be represented with more "obscure" stuff that people aren't as, or even at all, familiar with.
