I have a question about Animal Crossing: New Leaf. First of all, do you think I should pre-order the game? I'm thinking about it, but if so, should I do it at GameStop, another Gaming Store, or online? I appreciate everyone's recommendations! ;)
Next, I have a solution to a lot of the questions for Animal Crossing: New Leaf!
LinandKo is a YouTube channel, and they translate Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gameplay. If you visit their website (it is on their YouTube page) a lot of answers can be found there, as well as in their videos. :)
Here is the link to Linsey and Kohei's Youtube channel:

I hope that answers a lot of questions! Thanks! :)

Only pre-order it if you know you won't be going out until the evening to get the game. I wouldn't expect it to sell out since a lot of people will just digitally download it.

Also, I think LinandKo are becoming increasingly overrated. *unpopular opinion*

If you're going to pre order don't do it at Gamestop

I agree but disagree. They're not overrated, what they do is really nice for the fandom, but when every person is like 'omg guys check them out' that's when they get overrated b/cos 90% of the AC fandom know about them already.

I don't mean to be rude but LinandKo are common knowledge around here. Infact, Lindsey is a poster on these forums. :)

As to whether you should pre-order it, I've never been into pre-ordering games really. Unless there is a bonus, why bother?

Yep that's pretty much my opinion, if you're planning on going to pick it up in the morning there is no reason to bother unless there is a bonus. Most towns and things have multiple stores where you can get the game as well so it's not like it will sell out everywhere or anything. I think people just like pre ordering so they can feel like they already own the game in a way.

Well, I'm on the other side of the coin. We have several large big box stores, Gamestops, etc. in my average sized, average population city, and it's not uncommon for all of them to sell out of a popular game the same day it's released. It's kind of a given here that if you didn't pre-order, you're going to spend release day hopping from store to store until you find one in stock. I had to do that for the last Harvest Moon game, and eventually just gave up and downloaded it because everyone had sold out. And with Luigi's Mansion 2, I learned that because it was a Sunday release several stores in town didn't even have it yet, let alone have their pre-orders in stock, because they only receive stock shipments Monday through Friday.

So, I say: PRE-ORDER, and verify that the store will actually have it ready to go on release day. I know Target offered a pre-order for City Folk -- in fact, I still have the little pre-order card in my wallet. ^_^

And, I'm a huge Lin and Ko fan too. ^_^ I like the way they set themes for each video and offer a ton of details, but there's a few other people putting videos out if they're not your cuppa tea.

In the last 5 years, not even once have I ever not been able to walk into a store and pick up a game on the first day. And certainly not going from store to store. The only exception are consoles of course, which I do pre-order for this reason. Maybe it's an issue where you live but I've never had a problem.

The stores may intentionally be keeping a smaller amount of stock to drive up demand or even demand for pre-orders. Things like that make business bigwigs happy. For what it's worth, it's an affluent, university city with lots of young people. We may just have more demand. But it still puts everyone between a rock and a hard place. :-/

You seem new.

Preorder? Sure. Why not? It couldn't hurt.

Also, we have answered a TON of questions here. Quite a few of which aren't featured in videos.

Stores I know keep smaller amounts of consoles to up preorders indeed. But when it comes to games, they get the preorders first, and depending on how many preorders are recieved, the shipment is then either limited or in bulk.
If 1 store got 200 preorders in for one game, they would end up buying in bulk, like 230 copies instead of just only preorders. Some stores are different though, and purposefully get smaller quantities even if preorders were high. It just depends on the district manager and what they decide to do.

Thanks for the answers! Yes, I am new, but I was just suggesting Lindsey and Kohei's videos because a lot of questions being asked here can be found on their website, such as how to unlock stores, etc. I just thought it would be easier to go to their website than to start a new thread about questions that are already answered somewhere else.
I am thinking about going out at noon or maybe before to buy Animal Crossing. If I didn't pre-order it, do you think that would be a good time to go?

~What I basically mean is, if I waited too long, could it *possibly* be sold out in a day? I'm only saying that because I have heard of LOTS of people wanting Animal Crossing: New Leaf!

Well, in my area they mostly have the games the day before it will actually come out. That's how it went with almost all my Pok?mon games...imo no need to pre-order. Unless you want the AC bundle, because I think that's getting pretty limited.

"unnecessary thread"? is it really that big of a deal if someone asks a question that you don't care about??? or does it outside of the huge thread with 600000 replies in it already?

you don't have to be rude
I didn't say that I don't care about other peoples questions. I do and I'm always happy to answer them.
It's just the fact that there is already a thread where you can ask questions about the game. It's even called "Ask Questions about New Leaf here! (instead of making a new thread)" (Zen explained it).

In my area, the local game store only had one copy (a preorder) of Monster Hunter. I know it's not that popular, but the same thing happened with Luigi's Mansion. Both GameStop and Target ran out of Luigi's Mansion and were trying to by each other's stock. If you're really worried about it, preorder your game. There's no harm in doing it and you're guaranteed Animal Crossing.

Pre-ordering the game and guide at Gamestop actually gives you a 10% discount. It used to be just for the guide but I got it off my total order (of one set of the game and guide, I have three other copies pre-ordered).
