while i was doing a giveaway, someone stole my hybrids. the problem is, i had two people in at once. one person replied and said they havent picked up anything, but the other person left my town in a hurry and didnt say anything at all, and isnt replying to any of my messages, so i'm pretty sure they did it. should i leave a negative feedback, or no? they're a newer user too.

If they are damaging your town, you should leave a negative feedback. Just because they are new doesn't mean you shouldn't give a negative rating.
okay, i'm not sure because there were two people but i think the other person is less likely to steal anything. i'm really upset about it because they were hard to breed flowers too ;w;

yeah they've been online and posting, and i sent my message about a half hour ago, and sent another about 10.
yes, there is no reason not to.
especially to help future traders with them know they might not be a good person to let into your town.
what kind of hybrids did they take? maybe we can help you out on getting a few back to fix the spots they were taken from.

i left the feedback.
they took pink roses, pink cosmos, and purple roses. they stole them from around town hall and around my fountain, and along my path. although the path i can excuse because it is along a cliff and i said any flowers along the cliff is fine, i just wished they would have asked first.
edit: 10 pink cosmos, 3 pink roses, and 6 purple roses- so all together 19 hybrids stolen.

people are so rude, i don't understand how anyone can go to someone's town and legitimately take something..
i mean, sure if they were a close friend of mine i'd giggle and tell them they're an asshat, but i wouldn't be mad like i would if a stranger just came in and stole something from me. i've learned people are usually really kind with helping out-(i've gone to towns for trades and mayor's have offered me so much more stuff than what the trade was even for!) and seeing someone steal is just sad. :/
well i was letting people take stuff, it was part of the giveaway. i said they could take:
non-hybrid flowers.
buried items.
beach items.
and thats it. i thought it'd be a nice thing to do, since i was just gonna end up selling them all anyways, why not give them away instead? i'm really upset because it's one of my first giveaways on here too. if it were a misunderstanding i'd be okay with it, but they never replied to my messages either, and again didnt say anything to me at all except for "hello" once they arrived soooo i dunno. i contacted a mod about it too but i dont know what else can be done other than just buying the hybrids back.

Thank you for leaving feedback. It really is important and helpful. I check feedback before letting strangers in. Anyone with no feedback or less than 100% doesn't get to come in. I'm sorry someone stole from you and then has the nerve to "hide." At least it won't be as easy for them to get invited to other towns now.

It is definitely the one who sorta just came and went without saying anything. I initially wanted to say just leave negative for both just to be safe, however a -1 is very, very reputation damaging and it isn't exactly fair for the other person, so I would say just leave a neg rating for the newer person who seems to be ignoring you.
It looks to me the person being accused of taking items was participating in a lot of giveaway threads. They seem to be mainly interested in freebies. Maybe there was confusion only as to what they perceived to be a free for all. You have two threads titled "come to my town and take things" and "come over and take stuff."
I'm not defending them but there could easily have been a misunderstanding from both point of views. Their mail slots would have been fixed in order to have taken 19 items.
They probably did not read your rules, misunderstood your rules, and has no idea they did anything wrong. Everyone knows unless it's a total free for all then any visitors should be watched or have a friend visit you who can help police the activity.
Sorry for your losses and a lot of people are gladly helping you regain your items.

It's not fair to ever leave a negative for someone who didn't do anything wrong. Why should someone be punished just because they happened to be there at the same time as a thief? If you were ever treated that way, you'd be furious.
