Random thoughts thread (for Animal Crossing in general)

I would hope in the next game they'd go back to the start with the villagers. It would be cool to have more or returning villagers, but if it was one or the other I would rather them focus on villager dialogue/interactivity. They're so boring in NH.
Oh, absolutely - I wouldn't want it at the expense of better dialogue. I miss how quirky the villagers were in the older games.

It’s so weird how it takes a villager to process and get interested in sitting down by a tree. Same goes with seats.

Speaking of which… (flashback to late February 2024):
Me: (Sees Melba sitting on the wild log bench I put down on the beach. I go up to her.)
Melba: “I saved you a seat, toasty!”
Me: (Sits down next to Melba.)
Melba: (Immediately gets up and walks away.)
Me: 😑

Right? Mine have done that a few times as well lol! When I was doing this fountain area near my RS I put down 3 benches. Bottom, left, right and then Punchy comes by, stares at me, and then just sits down on the ground. The nerve of him 😅

I would absolutely love to see bat villagers as an addition to the series, I think they'd be so cute! There are so many different species of bat that would make for fun designs, too! Imagining a Honduran White Bat villager, for example!

Just noticed an error in my post on this thread.

I meant 2025. Not 2024. The first two months of the year have me confused about what year it is. I was so used to writing 2024 that I didn't catch my error. Whoops.

I adore everything about the Sanrio collaboration but it makes me a little sad that Kuromi and Chococat were missed out, I think they could've inspired some really cute villagers and items!

It really sucks that the collab villagers and items from Welcome amiibo aren’t in New Horizons. It would’ve been really cool to have all of the Zelda stuff in the game. It sucks that New Horizons is the only game in the series without anything Zelda related. I really hope they bring it back in the next installment. :(

i'm kind of sad that new horizons became the most popular version of animal crossing and the one that most people think of when they think of the franchise. it's my least fave main series game by far and i fear the next game will be more similar to nh than the previous games :(
Sadly that's guaranteed, I played that game first, i rarely play newleaf because the 3ds battery life is abysmal

I wonder if Nintendo will flesh out villagers more or if they will keep them about the same depthness and just keep adding new characters. Also, I wonder if any villagers will get cut or if they will get redesigned for more uniqueness and easier marketing.

I really hope that in the next installment we’ll be able to rotate the camera angle outdoors a full 360 degrees. Having everything facing forward is kinda limiting. It doesn’t feel like a fully developed world. Having the ability to place items outdoors in any direction without it looking awkward would be amazing. It would also help if a tarantula or scorpion hid behind an item/building/cliff. Instead of guessing where they are, we could simply rotate the camera to have a better view. It would also significantly reduce the chances of screwing up.

Please Nintendo. Make the next Animal Crossing be like Breath of the Wild in terms of outdoor settings.

Back in the New Leaf days, some frustrations I had were animals being free to move wherever they want (which disrupts plans, obscures your house, kills hybrid gardens and fruit orchards, and breaks paths), Saharah giving Nook Store carpets and wallpaper (including the Common Wall and Common Floor), Snowboys demanding perfection, and Zipper T Bunny making Grand Prize tickets too common for a disappointing prize. There were also community issues, like spoiled brats on Club Tortimer and the duping glitch (which hurts the ACNL online economy).

But looking back into these days, it’s quite interesting to see how much time has passed. It’s at a point that people forgot about all of these issues. But we were also so used to ACNH to where we forgot other things (like we can’t dig up trees, you can take flowers by picking them, and PWPs had to be funded and worked on one at a time).
