I don't trace, but I draw on paper and take a pic with my phone and do the lineart there!

I don't know if that counts as tracing?

You're free to trace your own work, but I think what Mariah means is that the lines lack an organic feel or flow to it. It doesn't look like someone's been looking at it while drawing; more like you're looking at the picture that you're tracing if that makes sense.
