A while back, I was looking up when Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were first introduced to the stores since I remember hearing about the first commercial being in like the 60's or 70's, but when I looked it up on when they were released, I was shocked. They first came out in 1928. I never thought they would be that old. I looked at Cheez-Its next. It was introduced in 1921. What's even more mind-blowing is that Oreos came out in 1912, like two years before World War I. They've been out this long?! We may all enjoy snack foods, but they have been here for a while.

Years released:

Candy:

Hershey Bar - 1900
Butterfinger - 1923
Milky Way - 1923
Nestle Crunch Bars - 1928
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - 1928
Snickers - 1930
3 Musketeers - 1932
PayDay - 1932
KitKat - 1935
M&M's - 1941
Twix - 1967
Skittles - 1974

If I missed any, please post a comment. However, I cannot include variations such as Reese's Miniatures, peanut M&M's, or Sour Skittles.

Other Snack Foods:

Oreo's - 1912
Cheez-its - 1921
Fritos - 1932
Lay's - 1932
Ritz - 1934
Cheetos - 1948
Ruffles - 1958
Chips Ahoy - 1963
Doritos - 1964
Pringles - 1967
Nilla Wafers - 1968
Funyuns - 1969

If I missed any, please post a comment. However, I cannot include variations such as spicy doritos, Reese's Cookies (Chips Ahoy), or red hot funyuns.

And finally, the big drinks:

Coca-Cola - 1886
Pepsi - 1893
Dr. Pepper - 1885

The next few blog entries would probably be about the history of what we see today in modern culture. I wouldn't refer to the actual historical events or movies, but I would refer to mostly foods and inventions.

Some others you might like to add:

Twizzler's - 1845
Hershey Kisses - 1907
Milk Duds - 1926
Kool-Aid - 1927
7-Up - 1929
Twinkies - 1930
Ritz crackers - 1934

York Peppermint Pattie - 1940
Mountain Dew - 1940
Sprite - 1961
Reese's Pieces - 1978 (not sure if this would be grouped under Reese's or not)
Tostitos - 1979
