Recolouring tools

I just found out that you can customise tools. (for example you can give a shovel a pink handle). Given that tools break after a while, I just wanted to check if this was wise.

I think it would be worth it if you want to put a tool down in your house or outside as a furniture-type item. You know, for pretty display purposes. But otherwise, no. I don't think it's worth wasting customization kits on a tool that you're using and will break.
