Hello, so I know it's not possible to record on switch, but I know people do it with boxes attached to the tv and whatnot. I'm just wondering, does anybody do that here? and if so, what is it you are using? I've been looking at boxes but they all seem fairly expensive.

So to record your switch you'd actually need two things, a capture card and software to record it on.

A lot of streamers use the Elgato capture cards because they're easy to hook up and use with minimal lag between whats happening in game and what gets recorded BUT they can be a very expensive thing if you're not using it too much. OBS is also a very popular software to stream and record on, and its both pretty simple and free to use so its easy to get the hang of it quickly.

Honestly if you're just starting out doing recordings and stuff I wouldn't drop £100+ on Elgato stuff- have a search around and check out the link MrFox posted for some cheaper alternatives, they all do they same job pretty much!

I saw some pretty cheap options on that page, withint a more modest budget. Once you build up a fanbase on Twitch, you can save up for better equipment.

I personally use the ultra gamer GC553 for my channel.

I also have the elgato cam link 4K but haven’t yet used it in anger. Gas very good reputation for streaming.
And yeah, the gear is NOT cheap.
