If it's merch for something I like but feel it wouldn't fit me or don't like the style/graphic I, for the most part, don't buy it. I look for something else or I just don't buy. Though I've bought merch just for the sake of having it (bright ass John Cena fruity pebble shirts lol). I've also bought NFL jerseys of my favorite football players bought my brother gets all pissy about me liking football for whatever reason so they just sit in my closet.
I had a skirt I bought at a thrift store and I extremely liked it, but somehow couldn't find any top to pair it with. I remember going around a mall for 2 hours trying to find a single top that matched the skirt but I just wasn't happy lol. Kinda sad.
Also I love the idea of cosplay and I keep thinking I want to cosplay someday, but I just don't like how I look so I don't think I'd do the character justice. But it looks really really fun when i see others cosplay. Idk it's just a disparity in my brain
