Rip not having Nintendo Switch Online
Only way to do trades.
Can we get an F in the chat?

I was thinking about this. I have the family plan with me and my cousin. We share and it works for us. It's cheap enough and we both get what we want. But I don't have any other family that play the Switch. So I have 6 extra slots that are unused. I was thinking about doing an online share, where I'd help people who wanted to go online but couldn't. They would take a slot temporarily and be there for like a week or so, then I'd rotate them out, just to keep it fair. I'd keep it free, since those slots are just gonna be sitting here anyway, so why not make some use outta them. Plus I don't mind. I haven't really worked out all the details yet but it was something I was thinking about.

Hopefully local wireless multiplayer will still exist. Requiring a paid membership for online sucks, but at least it's not offensively priced.

So we buy a console, then the game, then we buy an account to trade.

This sucks a bit.

I hate how the switch is stupidly expensive for a lot of people, having to pay 200/300 bucks, a further 60 bucks for a game, and even more for an online membership. I honestly think the 3DS was a better deal, a bit cheaper and it comes with a lot of pre-installed stuff and the games were a lot cheaper, plus free WiFi. I'd be horrified if there wasn't an animal crossing for the switch, I'd sell it immediately For a quick buck.

That's where I'd disagree with you right there. Smash is too good to give up.

Don't forget that the 3DS was $249.99 at launch on top of $40 games. Yes, paying for online sucks, but at $20/year it's not stupidly unreasonable.

I agree, it really sucks. I mean, I get that it's only 20 extra bucks, but they shouldn't make us pay for this kind of service in the first place.

I mean, if we would at least pay for functional servers that support a stable internet connection... But
that's not even the case. As much as it sucks to pay for it, I don't want to renounce the internet since
you can do so much more in a game if you can go online. At least it's just 20 bucks for a whole year
and not more.

Idk why this is such a suprise. Everyone knew this would be a thing. At least its only ?18 a year vs ?40-?50 in comparison to Playstation and Xbox.

I didn't know I'd need to pay nintendo to trade from my own game.
I don't even play online.

It's not as expensive. Just wish nintendo games didn't suck ass @ online play. Especially smash. beyond ridiculous.

I hope Nintendo has local game play for the ACNH so I can trade with my other switch. I don't want other players showing up while I'm trading.

Pokemon Let's Go allows local game play for trading. I was able to trade the whole dex with no problems.

I have the online membership and haven't lost connections with other players.

It's not too bad. I have a family plan with my brother and my mom. I may or may not use online play, but I was hoping to do lots of trading in the near future, so I'll most likely will be using it. Hopefully the online service won't be bad for New Horizons. I heard a lot of other people complaining the online play was bad for like Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Maker 2. Also, it's not too expensive, so I'm sure other people will be able to afford it.

I mean at this point everyone has to pay for online usage. I don't think nintendo priced it that unfairly, especially with the VC stuff you can get with it. I'm definitely not going to be buying it until the pokemon game comes out and I'm far along enough to start trading and filling out my pokedex, or I might even just wait until Animal Crossing comes out and get it then.
