Hello all!

Welcome to my art dump of mediocrity! I have been out of practice with drawing for years, but I decided to get back into it after seeing all of the wonderful artists on this site. I went out and bought a new drawing tablet, and decided to start this thread to showcase my progress as I get back into art! Thank you Elov for the suggestion!

I will welcome any criticism, but please don't be unnecessarily rude or nasty. I know I have a lot of work to do to get better! ;^; If I am ever confident enough I may open up for suggestions/requests or commissions, but for now I need to build up my skill!

Thanks for stopping by! <3

Welcome back to the amazing world of creating art!:D I would like to see more of your drawings before you started getting back into it, this way I can have a better insight on your improvement so far. Before helping you, if you like:) I'm by no means a professional, I just started digital painting myself and I found it a lot more difficult(the coordination is so hard...) But have been into traditional a long time, I guess that's why they accepted me to study to become a game artist:p I really admire your courage to show your art, I'm always a bit insecure to show mine.

Anyways, from what I can tell you're more expierenced with drawing traditional too, right? Before starting to draw digital I would recommend getting to know the basics on paper. Just do studies. Gestures, faces, emotions, proportion. Start with simple shapes and lines to get a feeling for the movement and try not to create outlines! I know it can be a bit boring, because you want to create something beautiful. But if you get a hang of these basics you can definitely see yourself improve quickly. Once you know how to draw something realistic you can start drawing something more cartoony.

I hope this is helpful and I can't wait to see more of your work xx

Aww thank you so much! ;^; You are very kind yo offer advice like that! I forgot to bring my old portfolio from high school to work today, so I won't be able to scan them until the library is open tomorrow. While I was fairly good at 'copying' (looking at an image and drawing what I see, not tracing) I was never great at 'original' drawings. Still it was definitely better than nothing! I am setting up my new tablet right now so I can start practicing.

Doing drills like you suggested definitely seems like a good idea, but I will probably still do some full pieces as I go to keep from getting too bored. ^-^

No problem, I love to help! But being good at 'copying' is a good thing, it shows you are good at paying attention to the actual shape and details. Drawing really is 90% looking 10% doing. Once you feel comfortable drawing something with a reference, you can try visualise your own imagiantion. But it's no problem to look for reference if your stuck, as long as you take something and make it your own. Good luck!

Soo... I still haven't gotten the hang of my tablet... (everything comes out wonky... I need to practice more... ;^; ), but here is a doodle I did in Pokemon Art Academy for Fleshy! Any thoughts? This is only the second free hand I have done in color, so try not to be too harsh ok?

Looking cute so far! > u <

One thing I'd recommend doing now and then is looking into color theory. It's kind of hard to get the hang of, but it can definitely help with figuring out how to shade things :D

Thank you! ^///^

Thanks for the tip! Do you have any recommended resources for that? ^-^

Aw, these are all really cute. :3 I think your first digital example is especially well done. I always struggle with drawing 3/4 faces, but you do a really good job. :3

Thank you! ^///^ I have always had an easier time doing 3/4 faces, but profile and straight on ar much harder for me. :<

I loove these! Love the mayors with the mustache, so so cute!~

Oh my god... So much page editing...

First page revamped to have 100x100 icons of each piece that link to the full version.

All surviving art that I did in high school has been added.

That tool approx. 3 hours and now I am going to go lay down... ;^; Please browse if you want! <3

Hmmm lemme go look for a moment...

Really really nice but really, really long

Nice but also kinda long... And a new thing to me lol

I can't find the picture that made it click for me (the original artist deleted it OTL), but I'll just make a quick thingy!

Ah! Thank you so much! I will definitely be looking over those! ^-^ <3

I can't see any images in the drop down thingy, is that correct?

Huh really? It is supposed to be full of thumbnail sized pics you can click on to go to the full version. ;^; It is showing up for me.

I can give you a link to the dA folder if it isn't showing up... ;^;
