So this is about Animal Crossing: City folk

How it works when you arrive at your town, the ground will be mostly covered with grass (unless, of course, it's wintertime), with a few patches of dirt. If you walk over the same area frequently, it eventually wears away. This wear will become more and more visible each time you play the game.

Have you noticed when you started your animal crossing: city folk game, you had a beautiful town, but now, there's dirt everywhere?

Or at the beginning of winter, you made a few snowmen, but now, you sometimes lack of snow places?

It sucks, right?

So earlier, I found on a site a petition made by Josh Thomas so the Nintendo people can change this by actually doing a patch that would allow us to get the choice to allow or not the grass to wear away when you walk on it...You could find on some free channel or by Wiiconnect24, just like Nintendo sends us things often.

Here's the link: http://www.petitiononline.com/accf1357/petition.html

Yay! Save our grass! XD

doubt that it'd work, but i would personally love that to be an option.

sign'd.
good luck.

This is why people either use paths or golden roses to keep their grass.

Many have tried and all failed. I have even rang them up and there isn't even any way they can do this,
they could easily patch it, i'd assume. unless the wii is really that weak.

they could. if they wanted to.
Nintendo told me they couldn't...

that doesn't say they couldn't.. just that there's no information relating to that. :/

meaning, they weren't working on it/there was no information that they were doing anything about that.

it's possible, nintendo just doesn't want to, in short.

DEM FAT *****ES!!

Oh, don't ask why I've kept a letter that's almost/more than 1 and a half years old...

I don't think it would be easy for Nintendo to patch, well they never have and they won't now given the 3DS version is only weeks away.

If you play accf like you could play acww, ie wandering around as you like, then yes the grass wears away pretty fast - I found that out to my cost at game launch.

If you limit walking/running to designated paths, only move over the grass once per ingame day, and use flowers to grow in dirt patches, then it isn't too bad at all.

I do this, but I still have some grass wear, ironically more so in summer, as I walk over the same bits multiple times to catch summer tree bugs & gather fruit.

But I can load multiple times (so long as on all but one game load, I remain on the paths) & can wifi (there is a post on here which states that wifi visitors do not cause grass wear, but you the owner of the town may still do so - possibly, not clear from the post).

I find 'animal tracks' makes gameplay somewhat restictive, but I do see it as a challenge.
When I went back to play acww for a while, to my surprise, I actually missed the feature.

The wii cant do patches, metroid other M had a game-ending glitch in it, and instead of releasing a patch, nintendo made you send them either an SD card with your save on it, or your wii console with the save on it.

And also, this petition has been out since the game was released.

It's a dumb mechanic that's not even that realistic, and it forces you to restart the game every once in a while, which makes the game a lot less motivating.

You can update your Wii, but it doesn't update the game itself. The content of the game is held in the disc, and the hardware can't rewrite any disc. I'm not sure if they'll keep that feature in Animal Crossing 3DS, but I need to know if the 3DS game card can be rewritten, much like UMDs on PSP.
Plus, the consequences are far more minimalist than you may think. I don't care anymore if I lack grass, seeing that I caught all of these 5 bugs and obtained every snowman furniture. It's also extremely hard to lose every grass in a town. You have to basically run every square of your town per day in order to lose completely your grass. It doesn't contribute on your town status! So, even if your town looks ugly because the lack of grass, I wouldn't even bother restarting my town.

So, the whole "Save our grass" petition for Animal Crossing: City Folk never works. Don't get worried too much on this quirk, as the consequences are pretty much minimalist.
