selling/buying duped items with real money

If you check on ebay, there are lots of sellers, and lots of SOLD numbers you can see.

I think game is to make people happy, if people think they want to spend some money to make them more happier, they can do that, it's all about freedom.

I got all 591 DIYs by myself, and I enjoyed very much, even though sometimes spending whole day waiting for the balloons, but that's fine.

Maybe those sellers need those money for living, but for me that's just too little, I have lots of works and business need to do in real life.

ebay is definitely on a league of its own. i’ve just looked into it and i see a kitchen set being sold for $7.
yeah it’s not the best replacement for a job or whatnot but i can see it being used as a justifiable reason? which is saddening imo.

Well, this is a special time in the world, and lots of people are staying home, maybe this is a chance to get some money for them??
Buying and selling in game items is not a new thing, just like lots of games have in-game purchases
I prefer to get all items by myself, since I already paid money for the game, I don't want to spend more than that. Different people different thinking, can't say who is right or wrong.

As others have said those DIYs are likely hacked, not duplicated. The duplication method for DIYs involves the mail, which takes 30 seconds per letter to send. You are looking at 3 hours minimum just to mail all that. As well as likely needing multiple switches to store them all. Then you need to make at least 13 trips, which would take over an hour to do at minimum.

genuine question, would you have a guess as to who makes up the majority of customers in real-money markets? younger children having their parents buy them the items, adults who are newer to the game, continuing players, etc. because it is absurd to me.

It is most certainly adults who have more money than time.

My first reaction seeing it was also "who would buy this?" but as time has gone by, I've realized these dupers make enormous amounts of money off this. Kindave a sad truth of most games with a competitive market unfortunately

really wondering if the developers will speak up about this honestly

Nearly every online game bans third party selling of in game items. I'm sure it would be against Nintendo's ToS too of they they ever get around to figuring out the internet.

Traditionally the people selling this stuff were third-world country gold farmers or something. With a Nintendo Switch being required it is almost certainly people using hacked switches.

I don't like it and I'll never buy from them ever, but I think selling in-game items has always been a common thing in games. Some rare gear in MMOs can sell for thousands of dollars and people actually will buy them. I don't know if this is legal but it does happen, so I'm not surprised that people are trying to profit from AC. And I think that if an adult who has extra money and wants to buy it, knowing of all risks or whatever associated to it, then they can go ahead and buy it and I don't really care. I will continue playing the game normally without extra spending and what they do or don't do will not affect me. I think the only thing I can hope is that people are well informed and know what they're getting into when it comes to there black market sellers. Parents/players need to do their research before spending their money, but that goes for any purchase really. Just know where you're putting your money and if it is worth it.

I definitely wouldn’t pay real money for animal crossing stuff, except for amiibo coins or something.
It just seems shady and kind of pointless because you can get everything on your own with some time and patience.

I mean afaik, there's no tos clause for the game preventing this sort of thing, so they're technically fully allowed to

doesn't make it any less scummy though

I thought hacked switch can not play online game? Or maybe they have a hacked and a normal switch to transfer stuff..
I only have a hacked PSP lol, still on my desk..

that's crazy. I could see people buying seasonal or celeste DIYs for maybe 1-5 dollars but 79 is ridiculous. I really hope no one is actually buying them 😥

Yeah, they transfer items to another switch, that is how the wedding stuff and those star trees are appearing.

i get the appeal of buying hundreds of nmt, but 79 for all the diys is farfetched LOL

I dont like the idea of it :/ I have an AC account on ig and have gotten messages from 2 people with these shady businesses selling items for real money. They asked me to advertise their service in a post/story and in return they would give me the items for free. One offered to give me all real museum art while the other offered to give me a lot of NMTs. But even with all that, I chose not to accept and did not want to advertise this service to my followers. Its so scummy

I've seen some of these listings for sure. They scare me. haha.
I wouldn't wanna be caught with duped items like that, just in case. >.<;
I thought they fixed the duping glitch in one of the updates though?

as far as i’m aware it still hasn’t been patched. or unless it has and they’ve found yet another glitch ;;

Oh wow. I thought I read it somewhere that it had been fixed.
I've never tested it myself, so I wouldn't know for sure..
but that was my impression.

Still.. I don't think I would ever trust any of these types of sellers regardless.

doesn't bother me since the game isn't competitive. if someone wants to spend real money for virtual goods that's their problem not mine.
