Well, like most people I?m waiting to get a switch for just for ACNH just like I picked up a 3ds just to play New Leaf.

Only thing I?m waiting on right now is to see if they release an Ac themed switch or switch lite before I pick it up,

should I keep waiting to see if it drops, or do you guys not think that one is coming out? Let me know!

Every day I ALMOST buy a switch, but it's hard parting with money. :D

I'm not waiting for a SE one, I'm just going to get a black one. The lowest price I've seen here in Australia is $399, so I might as well just get one.

I just have to psyche myself up.

So yeah, go for it.
I don't think prices will drop. :)

I would just get a regular one, as they may come out with Animal Crossing Switch joy cons, so you can always swap out the regular remotes of the Switch with those. Also, if you want to start playing it on the day it comes out, it's best to have your Switch ready to play it, just like I do.

May as well keep waiting unless you encounter a particularly good deal. You've waited this long, what's another few weeks until they announce if theres going to be a special edition?

I’d wait a bit longer. It would suck if you went ahead and bought one now only to see that a few weeks later an animal crossing new horizons one was announced. I myself am hoping for animal crossing joy cons. I’ve been wanting an extra pair, but I’m waiting because I will be mad if I spend that money and they do actually make the animal crossing joy cons.

I will definitely be playing on release day! I?m ready to go now, just waiting to see if they come out with an AC console

I’m waiting for a special edition switch too. I would keep waiting if I were you. I almost decided to buy one, but I decided I would rather wait and see if they’re going to make a special edition one than go ahead and buy a regular one and miss out if they released one later on.

If they don’t announce a special edition by March I’m probably going to go ahead and buy a regular Switch though.

If you have other games on Switch you'd like to play, then I say go for it now to tide you over until launch day. I can't say for certain so don't sue me if I turn out to be wrong, but I find it highly unlikely that they'll release an AC-themed Switch, and even if they do release one it's most likely to be a Japan-exclusive (though I guess you may be willing to import for a hefty price hike and import duty fees. No judgment – I imported an Asian DS Lite back in the day that cost me an extra $100 and never regretted it).

What special edition bundles didn't get any unique art: Mario Odyssey (red joycons), Mario Kart 8, Fortnite, Super Mario Party, Minecraft (stickers), Mario Tennis/1-2-Switch, Splatoon 2 (green-pink joycons)

What SEs only got some decals on the dock: Super Smash Bros Ultimate

What actually got some unique Switch art:

- Disney Tsum Tsum Festival (Japan Only)

- Pokemon Sword & Shield Switch Lite (announced way back with the other colors though!)

- Dragon Quest XI S (Japan Only)

- Diablo III

- Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu!

And of those that got unique designs, I'd say the only one available outside of Japan that was any good was the Pokemon Lite because of the unique-colored joysticks (but I actually don't like the console because it's a lot darker grey than it appears in pics).

Disney, DQ, Diablo, and Pokemon are pretty big franchises and I think bigger than AC. And then on top of that, consider the games that didn't get any special decal editions despite being big-name Nintendo games. That's why I think it's increasingly unlikely that we'll see a AC special edition.

Wow, thanks for your opinion I think I?m going to pull the trigger on a switch lite gray then!

I’d wait.
I’m still waiting. Only getting the switch for the game though, so there’s no reason for me to get it sooner.

I'd wait a bit to see if they announce the AC edition Switch last minute. Couldn't hurt.

Either way, as (hopefully) amazing as AC:NH will be, you're in for a treat with the Switch; its games are so much fun!

Make sure you get the Switch in the red packaging. That's the version 2 with better battery life!

There's no real reason not to wait. If you want to wait until launch day to get the game and a Switch, both will be available on store shelves that day.

Im waiting to be able to afford this so haha you might end up getting it before me ₍ᐢ⸝⸝› ̫ ‹⸝⸝ᐢ₎

In the case of Smash playing on release day asn't an issue because the SE was available one month before the launch of the game, though the announcement was also a lot earlier. I'm not sure how it was in the other cases. I'd say it's better to wait at least until we got the next general and/or AC specific Direct for an announcement. After that, you can still buy a normal Switch or Switch Lite.

I'm still waiting.... I'm not going to get the game any earlier by getting the console any earlier, so may as well wait and see about the special edition. I'm guessing it would be announced at a direct of some sort and seeing as that hasn't happened yet....
