Signature Question

I'm planning on making a signature and have a question. A lot of the signatures have flashy background colors and then an image on top. For example I believe TheJJ's signature has this yellow color and then a pyeduck on top. My question is, where do you get these fancy background colors? Do you make them or do you get them from a website or something?

I think JJ gets them from Planet Renders.

I make my scratchy backgrounds by getting a stock and smudging it with a certain brush.

what exactly do you mean by stock? do you mean a sample of what you want?
