It's random... you can't control what Nook has in stock. The first few days, this is what happens. You may not get all the tools on the first or even the second day. It's just part of the game. Hopefully tomorrow he'll have a slingshot. Upgrade Nook's and he'll have a better chance of having one.

To get nook n go, I just sold stuff and bought like 10 things. I also paid my mortgage. :O Only my first one and 20k towards my second one though.

It's ALWAYS worked the same way, since the first AC: you buy things to equal a specific amount of money. Selling does it too, believe it or not, it's weird.

The specific amount is somewhere, increasing for each expansion, and the last expansion requires a friend to buy something from your Nook a' Way.

I also got an axe. You're much more likely to get the other tools once you have nook n go, people, so start paying off your debt and buying stuff from Nook.
