Kyogoku and Nogami gave an interview with the French website Gamekult. Here are some new infos taken from the website:
  • They want to conceive Animal Crossing: New Horizons so that players will want to enjoy the game for years to come
  • They are thinking of making the game amiibo compatible, but they have nothing to announce as of yet
  • KK will play music every Saturday night in New Horizons
  • KK music will also be played by various in-game devices like radios
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons will not be compatible with Nintendo Switch Online Cloud saves because of time travel discrepancies

That's been true, obviously, but what would be neat is if you could get "live" versions of KK's music. The acoustic guitar versions that he plays live are great and I hate only getting to hear them once a week. I'd love to hear them in my house.

I wish they would say where K.K. will perform.

One of the features I am completely fine with them removing is DJ K.K. I mean it was cool when we first got to see it, but it isn't really needed much. I'd rather them come up with new stuff.

Disappointing about no cloud saves but I guess I'll just have to monitor my SD card.

I think DJ KK would be more interesting if you played multiplayer and everyone hung out in the club chatting, doing emotes, and taking fun screenshot pictures.

I prefer to play Animal Crossing alone, with the exception of trading and helping people with very specific things, not hanging out. So I don't get much out of it.

THAT BEING SAID! I think it would be great if there was like some party/dinner cruise sort of boat you could hang out on during Saturday nights with your villagers and that KK Slider would be part of. Maybe NPCs could show up. Maybe you could listen to KK together, do mini-games, etc. If a feature like that existed, I would so look forward to Saturday nights in AC.

k.k. playing near a campfire on the beach. make it happen, nintendo

on rainy days, he plays indoors

Forgive me, but unless I have this wrong, wasn’t switch online with cloud saves a way to recover the save data in case something catastrophic happened to the system? (Gets dropped, falls in water, etc...)

I don’t know about you, but it would blow if you spent over 100 hrs on NH, only for the system to fail and not recover, some of your other games that support this feature are saved, but your save on NH is lost and no back up of it exists, just because they wanted to stop people that would time travel.

I get it, I really do, but it doesn’t mean I like it.

Yeah it's pretty upsetting. I have almost 2000 hours on New Leaf so I'm expecting the same amount of time and effort put into New Horizons. And if I lose that? I'd never even recover from the loss. Honestly, I would give up on New Horizons because of how heartbreaking it would be.

I don't really even understand how it prevents time travelling? Wouldn't someone just change the clock on their Switch or the in game clock? And what's the point of offering cloud saves if it doesn't work on the games that you put the most hours into and gain progress that would be awful to lose?? It's not like AC is competitive so why do they care if people "cheat"?

I personally believe people will figure out a way to dupe and cheat or whatever even without the cloud saves, but everyone will be s***out of luck if they break their switch or anything happens to it. So what is the point?

I think it's the other way around and TTing is possible . So no cloud saves in order to TTing. At least I hope so!?!?

I am not fond of the idea that after a year of playing my switch is dying and my acnh savefile is gone. This would suck really hard! Imagine hundreds of hours of playing all gone to waste. I would be sooo mad. I hope there is some sort of backup!

Yes, I believe so too, and I guess that is why developers have to be in need of dealing with the issue somehow.

However. I'd view cloud incompatible could be just coming from a matter of temporary market strategy & cost.
It'll for sure need insane server capacity to save all users' any and all the progress, considering AC being one of their main popular product. And at this point, it's not clear enough how much it'll cost them of course, as it's still even under development. It's possible that they make it to be available after some time. Like, after months or a year after the actual release - when they're able to estimate how much capacity/cost it needs.

fwiw, it's not like this is the first switch game to not feature cloud saves, iirc

Even if I were against people messing with the clock, I?d never see stopping them as worth the risk of losing my own town.

The actual real time I invest in the game is worth more than some duplicated items or someone?s accelerated progress, and I honestly can?t believe Nintendo would prioritize measures against time-traveling above the security of people?s saves.

I?ll wait and see how this develops before being outraged, but it does sound difficult to enjoy a game for years when it could be lost so easily.

Ya!!
Maybe we could have different frequencies!
Like a normal one where the aircheck versions are played at random, and a live frequency where we can here K.K. play live, at random too! Kinda like DJ K.K..
I think that'd be a great idea.

Maybe for K.K. to show up and give you airchecks... You may have to make a stage venue for him on your island?

Would have surprised me if they wouldn't let you use amiibos anymore. Besides this, it makes
me wonder if Club LOL and Dr Shrunk coming back, if K.K. just makes his own concerts without
any other character or if there is something like a theater now. Either way, nice to hear that
K.K. is back.

About the radio: Does that works the same way like before, like you need to collect K.K.s
songs or are the radios playing randomly songs of him now? If it's the second one then I
would find this pretty cool.

Also, about the last point with the Cloud saves: Does that mean that it's confirmed that
time traveling works in this game for sure?

Yeah, it’s why I mentioned that some of your games are saved (splatoon 2 is one of these that don’t support cloud saves)
